I have 12 pings to groups I have not joined! Actually, I have more pings than that, but I counted 12 different forum groups. I am already used to ghost pings and profile comments, but ghost group pings are new and possibly more annoying, since they ride in large packs apparently. D:

Hey! Can you give us a few examples of the groups that you are being pinged for? And have you ever been a part of any of them?

All of these pings were on June 16 between 1:38PM and 8:05PM. I notice I don't have any after that, so it might have been a glitch that was discovered and fixed, but if this can happen again, damn.

I think that's all of them, but with multiple pings to the same groups, I may have missed a few. it is ridiculous! No rhyme or reason other than I see a pattern of cults, custom clothing, and roleplaying, but doesn't that cover the spectrum of forum groups anyway?

I have never joined any of these groups before.

[edit] And I hope you don't need more info than that, because I just accidentally deleted the group of pings rather than collapsing them! I do still have them open in another tab for the time being, as long as that doesn't auto-reload.

That is a lot more than most people give me ;) If it hasn't happened since then, it may have to do with the fact that Keith was working on it that day (I see that he was on another board http://subeta.net/forums.php/read/792382/). I am not entirely sure though. And I have no idea why no one else would have reported that xD

It concerns me that no one else posted about it, because then I'm positive it's whatever same glitch leads to my ghost comments and direct pings, and no one can figure out what that is! D: I'll speak up again if it happens, and we will see if that also occurs during forum maintenance.

, not for ping groups. Only from individual users, but that is a years-long problem!

Are you friends with the people who you get phantom pings from? Is it possible that it's from the "Ping Friends" option? Nothing in the actual post will indicate if they have used that function - only the event will say "by your friend [user]" (I think).

, nope. It has to do with when people make emoticons that start with the at symbol, I believe. It's a much older problem than Ping Friends has been around.
