I don't know about anyone else, but this kinda bothers me.

I was playing Item Hunter last week or so, and he asked for a item I couldn't really afford. Well, I could, but the reward of 80,000 wasn't enough to justify the item price of 600,000+. So I gave up and was thrown all the way from level 43 to level 1.

My suggestion is, could the penalty in Item hunter be changed to maybe losing 10 or 20 levels? 30 even.

When you make it all the way to 50 levels or more and you're knocked all the way back to zero is... its really... daunting, to get knocked back so far. Especially because of an item that you couldn't afford. It's rough and kinda makes me not want to play.

But yeah. Just a hopeful suggestion to make a game a little more "friendly" so to say.

Item hunt was made to be difficult to win though and frustrating to get through. They need the failproofs in order to keep its top prize (Swashbuckle) valuable. Not to mention that it adds a ton of sP into the economy each day.

I don't think Item Hunt should be made easier. It's meant to be hard to complete and you are meant to lose money as you go if you are aiming to finish it. If it was made easier the final prize wouldn't be worth much at all and I think if you have the money and patience to finish it you should be rewarded greatly

What everyone else said :P It's meant to be hard, not friendly. That is why it so satisfying to get to the high levels.

There are items that you can use to instantly get back to level 50 or 60 respectively but they're pricey if you only do IH to make money. (From the Millionaire Centre but it's much cheaper to buy them in user shops.)

I remember when the item hunter also only let you do 3 levels per day ;).

Mnnn I think I remember the 3 levels a day thing too.. O_o

Also if your giving up on lvl 43.... since theres what I think 75 levels.... -might be wrong here- but there are items that Chase asks for that are /way/ more then the 600,000+ sometimes he asks for some that arent even in user shops at all. Tis why the % of users who have finished item hunt are so little, and I also believe people forget once you finish item hunt once... you can never play again.

Like other users mentioned, that would take the challenge out of it. Even if you do fail it level 60 and have to go back to 0, it doesn't take that long to get back up to where you were. With 5 levels, it ideally takes 20 days to get to level 100. That's very reasonable, imo. C: Not to mention, the failing and starting over actually adds sP to your pocket over time. C;

Not only would it take the "challenge" out of it, but it would also make IH way more profitable.

You could just replay levels 40-70 and make an super easy 100-500k a day with hardly any work, whatsoever.

It would be an interesting thing if you could "bribe" chase if you ran out of time/couldn't get the item. Pay him, say, 5m sp and not advance, but not go all the way back to 1. It would also end your IH game for the day. I suppose those tomes work about the same way though. 5m sp would also be a good way to get some of the currency out of circulation.

Be excellent to each other.

I wish it was easier, but I have to agree with everyone else. I don't take the quests lightly. I go into them knowing full and well that I might have to pay a lot of money and that I'll have to start over if I fail. I don't really do those quests that often because I don't like taking that risk :/

As frustrated as I get with Chase, I agree with everyone else, its not supposed to be easy

- I've never seriously tried to finish it, but I didn't know you can't play anymore after that. Thanks, its good info to have.

I don't know, it sounds like that would become problematic when it reaches a point where 5m is definitely WORTH saving my own skin every time I have to miss a quest. In the higher levels, if I start my item hunt and realize that I can't find the item within the time limit, hell YES I'm going to pay 5m to not fail. I'll do it over and over until I AM lucky enough to get a quest I can afford, because 5m is a pittance compared to hoping to goodness that somebody will sell me the item for only around ten times as much. And considering I'm nowhere near the richest user around here, it seems like it would open it up for lots of people to do the same thing...

I see your points, and thanks for all the new info. Also, didn't realize so many people commented here. I swear I wasn't ignoring you all. One day I'll get the hang of the forums... @ _ @

But this was only a suggestion; borne out of frustration that I had gotten so far for the first time, in the 4 years I've been here, and then was reduced to 0. But I'm not an avid player as many others on this site. I come and go when I have times of nothing else to do. So it would be severely unfair to those who do spend the time and effort. I wouldn't dare try to take that away from them.

Also, I don't know if even the 5mil save bribe would ever help. XD I've never had more than 2mil I think... So I'd be messed up either way. But, one of the great things I love about this site is how much easier it is in the first place to gain currency.

I'll pick up item hunters again eventually. Until then, I'm having fun exploring some of the other games that I've ignored until now.

Thanks everyone. :3

I think Item Hunt is fine the way it is, except for ONE little thing.... WHY OH WHY once you finish, can ou NEVER EVER play again??!!!! THis just seems so unfair. I mean, I kind of get, but I kind of don't. I LOVE doing my Item Hunts on a daily basis, and I am ON THE VERGE of actually getting to the end, though I am taking a break to build up some funds, but I am on level 90 right now, and to think that if I WIN I won't be able to play anymore??? I get that maybe once you win, because of the "grand prize" you don't want people winning over and over again and overloading the economy with priceless items and making them worthless. I agree. But can't you make it to where each person can only the get the prize ONCE... Or maybe once you beat it the first time, it changes in some kind of way... I don't know.... I will jsut be so sad to not be able to do my Item Hunt each day.

Good job on bumping a 20 months old thread

And there is a way to restart, you can use the book that makes you go to level 50. From there yu can either lose and go back to 1, or keep playing until you get a swashie. Rinse, repeat.
