I've dug out my grandmother's sewing machine and I would like to start sewing regularly, but I'm at a loss at where to start as it's been a few years since I've sewn. I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations, tips, etc. for first-time sewers who are picking the craft back up.

Well, when I first began sewing I made make-up bags for my friends that turned out really cute and handy! One thing I really love doing is looking at youtube DIY's and skimming pinterest to come up with cool ideas...

Here is a really easy make-up bag vid :)

I'd also recommend making stuffed pet toys as a starter project, too. ^3^

I started watching The Great British Sewing B and it made me want to start sewing x3 I reckon a pillow case would be fairly easy to make. I got a couple books out of the library with a few good designs. Also bought two patterns and fabric so I can try out a skirt.

oh! Almost forgot, I think this website would be good for tips. It has some simple designs. http://www.tillyandthebuttons.com/p/learn-to-sew.html
