I'm looking for a sheer soft bg layer to go over other bg's to soften them and make them not so 'busy' behind the HA. You can still see the bg, just soften it a little. Makes the HA pop more, but the original bg can still be seen. This would be great over bg's with flowers, gardens, nature scenes... and other bg's it would work with. No burnt or smudged, no fading to one corner, just a "solid" sheer white bg, translucent so it covers all bg and makes it soft lighter, like a sheet of sheer fabric... sheer chiffon like. And I would prefer not permanently over the HA... foreground or background only.

Like...blurring or something? I'm not sure how layering one static image over another static image makes it "softer", unless I'm really missing something. Do you mean like the effect of adding something like to the layers, or am I way off on that tangent?

Do you mean something like the Piano Key or the (color) bulbs? Or like the Bokeh CW? I can't tell what you're suggesting.

more sheer, like you would see chiffon.. but not materialistic (I mean sheer fabric looking) but soft sheer, so it softens a solid vivid bg. Think of the vanishing cream, but sheer instead of solid invisible.... where you can still see any bg you're covering....

Okay...I'm back around to not knowing if that would be possible. Any means of softening or blurring an existing background that I can think of would directly involve some sort of digital filter that would actually edit the stability of the lines in the original artwork. Think about it in terms of the lens in your eyeballs - when you allow your eyes to unfocus, not only does everything go blurry, but fine lines tend to spread. It's even more apparent if you should happen to use glasses - taking them off not only blurs things for you, softening details while retaining the image.

I mean...if it IS possible, I think it would be cool to have, especially if they did it similar to the light bulbs, so one could do it with different effects (so as to have a normal focal point effect, perhaps an obstruction effect through smoke or fog, etc). Buuuuuuuut the methods are beyond my limited understanding. So, I'll keep fingers crossed here.

You mean like a filter? Like but not quite as white? I'm always in favor of more filters, unless of course I'm misunderstanding what you're trying to get at.

Yes a simple filter that softens any bg. And that includes bg's that are partially solid.

So this kind of filter doesn't already exist yet among all the official and CW ones? I'm just asking because it seems like it would be really hard to make a new unique overlay if there's already something like what the OP wants.

If we do get something like this, I'd prefer it went in the foreground layer though.

Speiro. YES! exactly! What you said is exactly what I'm asking for. RNA. Eh, that one stays on the front of the HA even if you pull it way back to the "background". Vanilla. Yah, me too. I'm just hoping I can grab an artist that will do this for me.

It would be cool to see this as an official item, it'd have the huge advantage (imo) of being potentially transformable between foreground and background! c:

I really like this idea a lot it would also add more effect to the theme of the HA maybe help change a color of a background without making a brand new item. Plus different effects can add to the fun and creativity. Varying degrees of translucency would also help maybe even some gentle patterns for those who like to experiment. Like you'd have a solid color and then have that same color only with like for example tiny snowflake patterns added. I think it would be wonderful!

It's not that I'm not "backing you up" but I am curious as to whether or not what you have in mind isn't already onsite because there are so many filters between all the official and custom ones, you know? 😄

yah, sort of like the torn photo of a foggy day, but not so 'foggy'... just a soft sheer bg, white, no filter colors or 'theme' just a sheer white bg, plain ol sheer white that just softens a solid bg, no anything else. not faded to one corner, no burnt or smudged sheer bg, just a translucent sheer white bg.

But if you have one in progress.... well, I guess I won't need to find an artist to make one.

Ah the white one will be similar to the foggy bg; smudged edges and stuff. I think I get what you mean by just plain white sheer filter. But subeta requires at least 3 to 5 layers of shading for items o:
