Okay, so and I are preparing to open a new CW shop in the Custom Clothing forums. There is a rule in place regarding opening a new shop that we have no problem abiding by but it just seems like it's just a tad excessive? Let me explain;

Quote by Custom Clothing Forum Rules

â—• One custom clothing selling thread (shop) per user. If you want to start a new selling thread, you must wait for your current thread to reach the third page AND have it locked before you can create a new one. This also applies to recreating joint selling shops regardless which user recreates the new shop.

â—• Joint selling threads are allowed, however, you may not have a joint selling thread AND an individual selling thread as well.

I'm cool with not having a personal and joint shop, and I'm fine with waiting to start the new thread. However, I think waiting for the old/closed shop to fall onto page 3 is a bit much? In my opinion, there doesn't seem to be enough activity/new shops to warrant a page 3 wait. The last post on the first of page 3 is from April 15. It's going to take a long time for Kaje's old shop to fall onto page 3. Do you see where I'm coming from? I just know it's going to take FOREVER for her old shop to drop to page 3 and we're about ready to open shop now.

I think dropping the requirement to page 2 seems more reasonable given the activity in those forums. I really don't want to have to wait a month for her shop to fall off to page 3 :( We've got great releases coming up and we are do-gooders who don't want to break the rules :(

not even sure if I'm pinging the right folks heh

I know staff may not want to set different rules just for the CW area, but I support this entirely. We have few active shops - actually less active shops everyday...

As long as the old shop topic is locked, I think it shouldn't make much of a difference which page it's on, so I would even support dropping the whole 'page' requirement as a whole. Get your old shop locked and you're allowed to make a new one.

[edit] Going a little offtopic, as someone who helps several friends on their shops, I think "joint shop" should be defined better. More specifically, "joint shop" is not the shop you merely help on with organization / slots for items other people submit, it's the shop where slots are taken for things you submit yourself. I'm not sure this is specified anywhere and I really believe it should.

I would be so thrilled with a lock + let it fall to page 2 rule! That way it's out of sight :) I can see where just locking might become a problem, if a person is all, "Oops, lock, oops, lock, oops! Lock!" OK now you've officially got 25 locked threads on page 1, hahaha. I just don't know if it'll ever get to page 3! xD {I have the patience of an infant}

I just wanted to point out that this rule is forum-specific (as it doesn't exist in all of them), so it shouldn't be an issue for it to be revised to meet the needs of that forum. :D

I think a time requirement (i.e. there hasn't been a new post in over two weeks) or a page requirement should still be required, otherwise someone could potentially make a new thread every day or more just to keep it at the top.

...now that you point it out, I clearly remember H&Q doesn't have it... for some reason I was probably thinking of Advertising, although the closest 'comparable' to the CW area is probably the Art/Graphics Market ^_^; Either way it's great to know it can happen!

True, that would still have to be in the rules somewhere. I supposed it'd take a while for the person to get the shop locked (they wouldn't be able to reopen while their old thread wasn't locked) but even then, they could just bother the MM endlessly to keep locking topic after topic and they'd still be fine if it wasn't technically against the rules ._.

In that case, I think I like the new post time requirement better c: Hopefully it never happens, but if the market ever slows down enough that it would take too long for a thread to even hit page 2, at least it'd avoid people requesting another rule change! x_x lol I am so pessimistic
