I didn't know exactly where to post this, so sorry if this isn't right, but I couldn't find the answer on Google.
I recently started up my Tumblr again, after almost a year of being off. Apparently, since Yahoo took over the site, there is an issue that now happens... something like "This post died while you away". I noticed it whenever I was searching a tag and had been on the page for a while, rather than searching something else or refreshing that search.
Okay, so I figured I'd just turn off my endless scrolling, since I'm obviously not going to refresh the page and scroll 100s of posts down to find where I was looking already... except, disabling the endless scroll seems to only affect my dashboard, NOT the search pages.
Is there a way to just disable endless scrolling, period?
You can email them directly for troubleshooting at .com">support.com.

Thanks, I'll try it, but I seem to never get responses when emailing support >.<
I haven't emailed them in a very long time but I do remember that they were prompt and helpful.

That may have been before it was taken over by Yahoo, but we'll see! :)
It was years ago when the userbase was much smaller but I don't think the change in ownership would make too big of a difference in terms of tech support.

tumblr's tech support is absolutely terrible. like idk I'm pretty active on tumblr and I have been on there since they started up, either back in 2008 right away or early on in 2009. they never listen to user suggestions and typically when you mail them with a problem you get a pretty automated response or none at all. especially if you are trying to report harassment or something. then you might even get in trouble, too, if you're lucky.
EDIT I also totally misread your post somehow (I'm really tired??? idk i fucked up lmfao sorry) and I actually have no idea if you can turn it off for tags BUT if you find out lemme know cause that would be super useful. since it WOULD be useful it's probably not something you can do, but idk maybe it's something that they just haven't told anyone about (also a thing they do @ tumblr) orrrr maybe you can do it with missing E or something
Never heard of that from Tumblr and I've been on it for over four years now but I can tell you that there is a way to turn off infinite scrolling in the options - dashboard - "Turn off infinite scrolling."

If I find out or hear anything from them, I'll let you know! :)
I already have my infinite scrolling options off, but it only creates pages on the dashboard. I know it used to be like that on the search too when I was previously on Tumblr. I don't know what they did, but it makes me not want to bother with Tumblr, esp with the constant error. If you're talking about not hearing about the error before, you can read about it here
That's... new.

Me
I disabled endless scrolling on my dashboard. However, I noticed this ONLY applies to the dashboard and NOT all the other pages, especially when searching tags. This poses a problem for me. I will spend a lot of time scrolling down the (endless) page, reblogging posts I like. I never exit the page, otherwise I will lose my place among the posts and eventually have to sift through hundreds of posts I've already seen. The major issue I have with this is after so long I get an error along the lines of "This post died while you were away". I assume it has something to do with security measures. Regardless, it makes me not want to bother with Tumblr since the reblogging aspect is now frustrating. Is there any way to turn off endless scrolling everywhere, not just the dashboard? (I know it was available before, since that was how I reblogged). If not, I propose that you make an option for this, since I never had this problem prior to the new ownership of the site.
Thanks.

Hello,
Thanks for your suggestion! We’re always looking for ways to improve Tumblr, so we'll share this with the rest of our team.
Thanks! Dave S
Of course he didn't address the fact that this was available before and suddenly isn't. Whatever. I just won't be tumblring until this is fixed.
moving this to the internet section of entertainment

I know this thread is kind of old and you may have figured this out already but, the problem lies with where you're redirected now. If you type "subeta" into tumblr's search bar it brings you to this page: https://www.tumblr.com/search/subeta with /search/ , and it has endless scrolling. However you can just replace /search/ with /tagged/ https://www.tumblr.com/tagged/subeta and the endless scrolling goes away. I feel as though the /search/ result lists posts with the tag in a way that goes most popular post first while /tagged/ goes in order of time posted. I hope this helps somewhat but I'm probably being redundant ^^'
OH MY GOSH WHAT A SIMPLE SOLUTION. Those dumbasses at the customer service didn't tell me that. Thank you so much <3
xkit is your friend. It lets you automatically redirect the search into tagged
