Yesterday, one of my neighbors died.

I'm not sure exactly when, but he was up and walking around at about 1pm when I left for work, and by the time some neighbors got back from talking to my aunt around 6:30pm, two police officers and the coroner was there. Not sure HOW exactly, but it seems like a heart attack?

The creepy thing is that he died in his room/apartment, which is next to mine.

His sister that was contacted wants none of his things (said the people down here were more like his family), so they're either going to get thrown out, 'taken' by some of the people living here, or donated to a church or other place of that sort.

He was annoying sometimes, and perverted, but it's weird not having him around now. I keep expecting to see him when I come out of my room, or him tell me "I hate you" (which I say back, but not really meaning it. Guess it was our 'thing'?)

holy crap! D: Omg, sorry for your loss :( I'm sure he will be missed. But if he was perverted, thats kinda creepy haha. Anyways, I hope that his family is doing well.

Yeah, I keep thinking he'll be here. He did have some good stories to tell (even if some of them seemed like they might not be true), and suggested a few TV shows and movies I actually ended up liking.

As for his family...I have no idea because I never met or talked to them. They apparently don't want anything to do with him.

I'm sure there will be a lot of nostalgia in the house now. Based on what you said, was he like a room mate in your home? How old was he? (out of curiosity since you mentioned a heart attack) If you weren't home when he died, then it isn't creepy at all. Imagine you were home and did not know that it happened or if you were the one to have to call the police. I'm Polish and we have this superstition that when someone dies in their home, you should cover all the mirrors as there soul may get trapped inside. 😦

He lived in his own apartment, right next to me, so not really a roommate? But we'd talk a lot (usually not in the morning I need to work, 'cause I'm not a happy person then), and when my mom would take him to the store twice a month (he didn't have a car of his own), and I wasn't at work I would go.

If I had been the one to find him, I would have freaked out to say the least. Most likely would have had someone else call 'cause I would have ended up babbling like a little kid, and not able to be understood.

And I've heard about the covering a mirror tradition, although I don't know if it was from a particular religion or area of the world. I think it was from the Jewish faith? I could be wrong there.

Ah, I understand. I'm not a morning person especially when it's work related. I hope his life was fairly decent. It's sad when people die and they were lonely or believed they didn't accomplish anything worth mentioning.

I would have the same reaction. Although, I think I would be able to call and explain to them what happened, unless the person was dear to me, I would be bawling my eyes out. How do you feel about his death?

It may be a tradition that runs through a lot of religions and nationalities but I'm not sure. It's a possibility. I'm a small portion Jewish from my father's side so it does make sense.

It seemed decent in the time I knew him? The apartments we have are small, just a small living area, and a decent sized bathroom. But when you live alone, you don't need a whole lot. He was healthy (just the usual 'old people' problems), had decent food (well, to him. Some people might not think so). He said he was in some sort of military special forces, but that's one of the things he said that seemed kinda...not true.

I'm still kinda thinking "Holy shit...He can't be dead." 'cause he seemed like he would always be here?
