Does anyone know what it is? I'm not allowed to be a godparent because I'm not catholic...apparently I'd corrupt the child or whatever. It's my niece and my brother really wanted me to be the godparent and today told me I'm the "Christian Witness".... What do I have to do? I couldn't find anything online that was helpful.

I'm pretty sure you're just standing there and basically saying 'yup, that kid got the hell baptized out of them', like being a witness to a marriage certificate. I could be wrong, since things do vary between areas, but that's what I've heard it as? P:

Yeah you just have to be there and look, so if anyone asks you can say: "Yup, that kid is so baptized, I was there and I witnessed it."

Yayyy. I was afraid I was going to have to do something, they make the godparents do something (don't exactly know what) Still don't know why they want an atheist to be the "Christian Witness" though =p

They ask stuff like "Do you promise to raise the hell out of this kid and get Jesus into his life?" and you're like "Yeah."
