They both do have a use. They're both toys, you can use them to play with a pet.

It is just a toy and nothing more. It doesn't really have any use other than TC fodder.

Many items have no specific game use. They exist just because they're amusing. Toys in general, or specifically keys, may not interest you, but they interest somebody.

There is a Subeta wikia, and fansites like Subetalodge and Subetahq. If an item is interesting or special in some way they might have data. You can go ahead and look if you like.
