I just got my first pair of glasses.. Now what? XD
I'm 30, with a 2 year old THIS Isn't as easy as I thought it would be. and everything has moved about 3 feet closer. But I can't seem to get the 'blurr' off my glasses. I've cleaned them with the glass cleaner, the cloth, my shirt, just.. gah! How to I get them clean? By blurr I do mean smudges. Also how long does it take to adjust to them? the nose peice hurts. :/

If it hurts, they are not correctly adjusted and you need to go back to the shop where you bought them.
Are you sure they are smudges?Sometimes you'll need to wash the cloth, and when it's oily/greasy stains, use a non-toxic liquid soap to wash them. You can gently wipe the oily smudges with your fingers. As for adjusting,it's going to take a little bit. It's your first pair,so you're not used to it. I've been wearing glasses for .. 19 years,so yeah I'm used to it.
Thank you. I didn't think of washing them or the cloth. That helped a whole lot. Now to get used to my eyes reflecting back at me. XD I have always been picky with sunglasses and take forever picking a pair out but now it's... these things... just not the same. ^_^

Of course you can wash them with soap ah ah.I use dishes soap to clean mine, they are a bit scratched though,so don't use kleenex at all to wipe them x.x Mine doesn't reflect,it's an option offered depending on the glasses brand your chose(mine are Crizal)
the liquid soap in pumps that are mostly gelled water. That's safe right? I got a few of those soft LCD screen cloths along with a couple of glass cleaner cloths. Could the LCD cloths be used? mine are... red... with...a long french name starting with B. XD

My mom used to tell my sister, "On your face or in the case." I wear my glasses all the time unless I'm sleeping or showering, so it was never issue for me.
Try to avoid touching the lenses. That will help with the smudges.
The nose pieces used to hurt me when I was going from plastic to wire frames, but I did get used to them.
If you want to try out a bunch of different types of glasses to see what really works, you might check out Zenni Optical. I got a pair of glasses from them for just under $30 including shipping (they would have been cheaper if I didn't have a weird prescription).
If the lcd screen cloths are the soft microfiber type, they should work fine. Microfiber has become my go to for wiping away dirt. :3 Just be sure to wash the cloth occasionally! If not, it'll leave horrible streaks. >_< I've had my nose pieces adjusted several times before they were comfortable enough for me. You could also change out the nose pieces for the circle kind. I haven't tried them yet, but I've heard that they can be easier on your nose. :3
Thankyou and and for the advice. aside from the nose peice and figuring out where they are comfortable on my nose they are much better after a wash n' cleaning. the micro fleece seems to help more then the silk cloth. It's my second day with them and ya.. still adjusting.

Hey, no worries! You'll get the hang of it in no time. :3 But yes, silky fabrics are only good for pajamas and frustration. Lol Not a whole lot else :/
Just be careful not to clean your glasses with paper towels or anything with a rough texture, since that can scratch some types of lenses. I normally just run mine under water and use the edge of my shirt to clean them, but scratchy material and sweater type things won't work very well. Hopefully you'll figure out what works for you soon. Its definitely really annoying at first. If you want to try different glasses and have a prescription for them, you can get a different pair at www.coastal.com, and you get the first pair you order for free.

Thank you so much. It's getting easier, mostly the worst is trying to remember where I put the case last. The little ditty 'in the case or on your face' has really stuck with me. I've enjoyed that and it works. Even the kiddo has adjusted easily to something new on my face. ^_^ The running under water and lcd cloths have done the trick nicely. More so then the actual cleaner solutions so far.

make sure they are adjusted properly, that you went through the time to find ones that perfectly fit your face. Then I'd pay the extra bucks to get the 'no glare' lenses...that helps a lot. From there, use a 'micro fiber' cloth to clean your lenses. I have just learned to accept the blurr...it doesnt bother me anymore lol.
Cleared by staff. Combined height may not exceed 325 pixels.
my glasses are useless if the lenses are dirty. i discovered that the best solution is the softest toilet paper/handkerchiefs i can find. [after all its paper that cleans the windows and mirrors the best too.] and i dont need cleaning solution. after 1 month im trying to remember not to bump my face/head into stuff anymore. its difficult...
Dish Soap + warm water. Soap up the lenses, then rinse them under warm water with the stream going over both sides of the lenses until the soap washes out, then remove it from the water stream. If you have a few droplets left on the surface, blow them to the bottom where they will collect with the leftover water from the stream and then place them on something- don't rub! that's absorbent. I usually use my shirt ... but really anything works!! XD!! I'm really anal about things on my glasses {read: OCD} so I had to figure out a way without residue. It works because glass- or at least the protective outer layer is hydrophobic. Unlike toilet paper, paper towels and tissues, this doesn't scratch the glass.

Thank you anon ;_; x10 March 4/21/21 (RIP Storm-buddy the leopard gecko- you lived a great 16.5 years.)
It took me FOREVER to get used to wearing glasses. I didn't have them until I was 19 and it just didn't feel right. I still almost five years later, have issues with wearing them. I hate the feeling of them being there, I suppose.
To wash mine, I just take some hand soap and lather it up, rinse them under water and sit them down to air dry before going to bed.
I have just recently gotten my first pair of plastic ones. I've already fallen in love just for to reasons... No nose piece and I modge podged the sides to make them extra purdy. c:
Thank you for the advice. I did that -not touching them- to wash and dry and it worked! I still am fiddling with them a lot but it's a lot better then before.
Getting used to the border and seeing the edges is what is driving me a lil crazy. I am used to wearing shades so often that the weight and them on doesn't bug me... its the keeping them on and seeing the edges and keeping them clean.
The worst I found so far is trying to play belly kisses, I have to take them off and set them aside to rough house with the boy. Remembering where I put them and putting them back on right away is still... tricky.

by "hurt" do you mean they're itchy? because if so you get used to that eventually. i tilt mine up if they begin to bother me so they're sitting on my face at a different angle. to avoid smudges you kind of just have to do your best not to touch the lenses. if they're not getting clean you might also try washing your cleaning cloth.
i managed to smack my face into a door once and ended up with a glasses-shaped bruise on my face for a week. it was great.
