Today I decided to do that 'draw it agian' thing where you take something you were ONCE proud of, and redo and boy mines a doozy. ITS ONLY A HEADSHOT
How do you think I've improved? In what ways? Where an I still improve? I went a good year without drawing at all and this year had been the year I've been PUSHING myself.
Ahhhh wow you've improved a lot!! Your grasp of anatomy is much stronger, and your lineart looks sooo sexy now ahhhhh o I feel really proud of you, stranger. :') I'm actually feeling kind of inspired. *looks for pencil
oh my gosh yes! thank you ;-; ye! go and GROW! <333333
Verrrry large leaps and bounds! Your improvement is quite obvious. The texturing/shading you chose reminds me of when we used to color with charcoals, which (for me anyways) is kind of hard to emulate digitally. I've recently gotten back into art and fixed my computer/tablet... I'm rusty but "draw it agains" always help inspire me to push through what I've lost. Thx :D
oh thank you so much i appreciate your compliments c: and i use a bamboo fun which was only like a hundred bucks or so and it's been my buddy through almost 5 years? maybe five? and yeah draw it agian is so fun <3
I never tried the bamboo tablet but I've never heard anything bad! And to last 5 years it must be a pretty good piece of equipment XD I need to get my scanner working... almost everything I have drawn is in pencil and I stink at tablet drawing from scratch- I gotta trace my hand drawn stuff :P
PS- are you good at quads? I see a few quickies up on your DA but I don't know if you draw them often :P I may want to commission you if you open a shop :D
Now quads i havnt started trying to work with yet- I used to ony do quad but now its up in the air- but send me an smail with a quad of yours and il stuff it in my files and when im practicing im likely to use it to encourage practice!
ps. yes my tablet is very faithfull..but allas, with me trying to really get into art- i need a more...in shape tablet. But i had to ever buy a tabet for a friend- it'd be a bamboo cheap and tough as nails... but ive usedit so ong and so often- the sensor pad is scratched up somtimes id snag a scratch and itll jerk my pen away and mess up my picture hahaha
Will do!! That would be awesome!! Do you have any preference on quad species you will and will not tackle?
And daaaang, you need a new screen! Maybe there's a way to just replace that part? And I bought a Wacom a while ago, it's pretty nice but I haven't hardly used it till now XD I recommend it if you will be shopping for another tablet soon!
ooh what model do you have? :)
and i would say cats right now thier faces are very flat and i find it hard to capture them really. im sure i could, i just have real problems with them. which is even weirder since i can draw dogs
but cats...eh. and horses!!. those are nutty.
I dunno what model to be honest, it's the 12' I believe. And ya cats can be hard! I'm pretty decent at horses though, I used to love horses when I was little! I'll send ya some pet names if you ever get bored but I'll steer clear of a couple species for ya :P
I think that your outlines have improved waaay a lot. It's so much more detailed and better done now :) The coloring and shading style is different and I really liked both. First face is very cute, second one is so much more realistic. Also, this one is really good!!! 😊

You've really improved, though your work in 2009 is still very cute c: Something small you could improve on that I suggest is flipping the canvas more to work on facial feature placements?
e.g. His blue eye is placed a little higher on his face, and his ear left ear is sitting considerably higher than the opposite ear - flipping the canvas will help you see that :3 If you work in pencil and scan it, you could always take a photo and flip the photo before you ink... or carefully use the magic wand tool to cut and move features in PS or Sai if need be c:
You've done very well for yourself 8D
great job with your improvement!! ;v; Something my teachers are always pushing me for is correcting the sketches and making sure things are placed correctly; one thing I'm noticing on your newer piece is that elements like the ears are kind of oddly placed, the close one is turned oddly to the side and the far one's back angle makes it seem like it lands higher on the scalp. Maybe try sketching out your objects volumetrically so you know where everything goes and how it fits together? ANYWAY nice work!!
