I've been thinking of trying to figure out ways to get over art block, or maybe you just have way to many ideas and don't know which to tackle?

My first idea is write down EVERYTHING and anything you want to draw, like fan art or your own characters and put them in a hat and draw and random one > u < Do you guys have any ideas?

HMMMmmm Yeah, I mean for me I have a freebie board I pick random things off of to draw, so that's a lot like your hat idea.

One thing I tried to do when I was younger was rather than drawing what I'd normally do, I'd try to draw something I wasn't used to, like different species or an odd angle shot. omo It kind of goes to break the slump and make your brain think in new ways -- after all, art is first and foremost problem solving.

But, another thing I could think of now that I'm older and more involved in the artistic community is that if you're having trouble drawing, it's always a good idea to just draw a bunch of doodles out first, or thumbnails, before jumping head-on into something that's meant to be a finished piece. Not only does it help loosen up your drawing hand and get you into the groove before tackling something big, but it helps you refine the shapes and ideas themselves so the piece will be better overall. I always find when I'm kind of floundering when coming up wit too many ideas and not doing anything about it, writing them down does help. Maybe they're all perfectly good ideas, and maybe you'd even like them two years down the road, so its nice to keep tabs on em when you have a hard time coming up with them later. Don't worry about not getting to all of them, you'll probably be able to list ones you feel more passionately about but that's usually subjective to when you came up with it, my point in a nutshell is don't fret about it, you'll get to them eventually if you write them down. xD

(until you spot something that motivates you!) It's quite useful and fun! You can also look at others people stuff that used the inspirations or freestyle.
