I was trying to find the back story for Subeta, did a Google search on "Subeta History" and ended up at a blank forum page. So I am starting this thread to collect the stories that are the history/folklore of Subeta. We know various plots occurred. We know one involved time travel. So there's a lot of history there. BUt not all of that history may be factual. Some of it might fall more under the category of folklore. I would like to gather that too. I'll start with what I've found so far. Please feel free to add to it. [And at some point, we might want to consider having players flesh out the history as long as it's not too egocentric and provides a fuller framework for the game. The goal here is to make a good storybook.]

A long time ago in the same galaxy ... http://subeta.wikia.com/wiki/The_Great_Preservers http://subeta.wikia.com/wiki/Selenis

Shinwa and Maleria lived on the planet Selinis. Maleria studied the dark magics and Shinwa the brighter magics. They got into a tiff with each other, destroyed their planet, and the Great Preservers from the planet Phaloroceas banished them to Subeta and sent Yaza the Oracle to keep an eye on them.

http://subeta.wikia.com/wiki/Tehb The Tehb were the native inhabitants of the Shadowglen Graveyard. ... They are said to be the hornless offshoot of the Ji-Meneb peoples. http://subeta.wikia.com/wiki/Ji-Meneb Ji-Meneb are the native peoples that come from The Darkside. http://subeta.wikia.com/wiki/Islanders Islanders or Native Subetans are the native peoples that come from Omen Islands. http://subeta.wikia.com/wiki/Ytivi The Ytivi are the native peoples of Arctic Frost. The name translated means "people of the snow". http://subeta.wikia.com/wiki/Tormirgard The Tormirgard are a race of native peoples of Arctic Frost. They are almost the polar opposites of the Ytivi people and live on the western side of the continent. Their name translated means "Guardians of the Tormir", Tormir being a river in the Arctic Frost. http://subeta.wikia.com/wiki/Galactic_Gypsy The Galactic Gypsies are possibly the natives of Atebus. http://subeta.wikia.com/wiki/Saheric The Saheric people were the natives of the Sacred Lands. They are one of the first races of Subeta and though little is know about them, have had a vast and rich history.

So where did the [player-character] Subetans come from? Were they native to the land of Veta, Centropolis, Riverside, and Delphi? That seems to be the assumption. And why can't we choose the birth place of our player characters? [I mean, we could write a description on our profiles but the plot scripts all seem to assume we're from the same place. If one of us wanted to be from Atebus (but not a Galactic Gypsy), there's no profile-setting we can use to adjust the plot scripts.]

http://subeta.wikia.com/wiki/Phaloroceas Phaloroceas ... becomes close to Subeta on the 6th and 7th of each month. The gems dug out from the Coda Caves are powered by the magic of Phaloroceas, their home planet.

That wasn't well written but I think it means the magic comes from Phaloroceas while the crystals it powers are native to Atebus. I'm assuming that until corrected. But this brings up an interesting point. Are the Glactic Gypsies somehow related to the Great Preservers? [Finding gaps like this is where gathering the history/folkore can help the Subetadministrators create new plots for the players to enjoy.]

This is a great idea. :) Are you going to continue the thread? I think you could use some sCode to make the post look more formatted. :) The spoiler tags are useful as subheadings.

The Galactic Gypsies were renamed in 2014 to become the Galactic Nomads (link). The wiki is out of date.

Apart from that, I really like this thread! If it gets going I'd love to pop in and read what people add. c:

It would be nice if others would contribute. Here's my contribution to the Shinwa/Maleria history. I am freely giving this over so that it can be included in Subetapedia. Shinwa and Maleria already have their entries on the matter. The Oracle needs her own entry:

"As a wizard, you must surely understand the laws of the magic," the Oracle responded.

"I hope I do," the wizard replied. "But you are here, instead of in the Darkside."

"Perhaps it would be better to show you," the Oracle replied. She tapped her staff. The orb at its top lit up. Suddenly, they were in a dull room somewhere else.

"What is it?" the older woman asked.

"The representative from Selenis is here to see you Grand Adjudicator," a young Yaza replied.

"Show them in," the Grand Adjudicator replied. "How can we help?" she asked in a seemingly pleasant tone that betrayed her authority.

"I know that in the time of Eodue, you warned us of what might happen," the Selenisian replied. He was a balding, middle-aged man with a very worried expression on his face. "We tried to take every precaution! Even though you warned us, we never believed it would happen quite like this! Can you not help us? Can you not bend the rules a tiny bit? I promise we'll do better!"

"The rules we speak of are not our rules," the Grand Adjuducator replied. "They are the rules of the universe. We can not bend the laws of magic any more than we can bend any of the laws of physics. The universe exists in balance. If people create one extreme, they also create the other extreme. You cannot have posative without negative, light without darkness, hot without cold. The moment you have a super hero, a super villian must rise up to challenge them. No extreme, no superlative can exist without it's opposite. Extremes create disparity. Disparity breeds discontent. Discontent breeds unrest. Unrest breeds violence. The key to peace is to avoid all extremes, dull as it may be. Dull is good. Yaza? Show us what our guest speaks of." Yaza pointed her staff at the Selenisian. The scene changed.

"I've been accepted onto the High Council!" a very happy Shinwa cried.

"So have I!" Maleria responded indingantly.

"Now I can help people!" Shinwa cheered. "I'll be the greatest mage in history. Everyone will say how wonderful I am!"

"You're not that great," Maleria replied. "You don't know anything about dark magic."

"Dark magic is forbidden!" Shinwa asserted angrily.

"So?" Maleria responded. "To be the greatest, you'd need to know all forms of magic. Maybe I'll learn dark magic, just to knock you off your pedestal."

"You wouldn't dare!" Shinwa warned.

"Why not?" Maleria challenged. "It might liven up things around here. It's so boring!"

"Good intentions but vain," the Grand Adjudicator sighed. "The worst. And clearly this Maleria is set to become the counterbalance." She looked over at Yaza. "Summon a containment army. Hopefully we can isolate them before they disrupt too much."

There was a slight blur. Suddenly the wizard found himself gazing upon a blackenned, ruinned world.

"Why are you holding me?" Shinwa demanded. "This is clearly Maleria's fault!"

"There would be no Maleria without you," the Grand Adjudicator replied. "Despite the warnings, you strove to become a superlative. The universe required a counter-superlative to counter-balance you."

"This is not fair!" Shinwa cried in protest. "I'm the good one! It's Maleria who's evil!"

There was another blur. The wizard was back in the Oracle's chamber. "You see now?" Yaza the Oracle said. "It is hoped that someday Shinwa will see what she has done and free them both. Until then, it is her I must keep an eye on."
