Because of one thread at the Site Feedback forum. One user critizised one of the site artist's art in a not-so-pleasant way.

Actually, that item's been around for years. It was just recently re-released as a free gift. I don't think there was any one particular event that inspired it's creation, just the general 'Baw'ing' that seems to come with every pet release/revamp.
