i'm not sure if this counts as a game, but does anyone know how it works exactly? like, can you try as many times until you find something? or once a day? or? anybody know?

The trash can stocks one item at the top of each hour. It's easiest to go there at whatever hour:59 and then just rapid refresh until whatever:02 or 03 and then check your Inventory and see if you got it. :)
