I think doing Wizard Quests would be an easier way to score rare items. It's happened to me before (he gave me a Subeautique item a few days ago).

Any shop that sells food? Food items aren't as easily vendable anymore; in fact, I'm not even sure if some food can be vended at all now, since the changes to Dragon Hoard. (Side note: I really, really don't understand why the machine doesn't vend food any more and vends shoes instead, when at least 3 other places vend wearables. :/)

Also, you could just ask a friend to help you out by buying two items at 50mil each and then doing the same back to him/her, lol.
