It's okay to not be super excited. Turning 18 was pretty damn shocking for me -- suddenly, tons more responsibility. It's frightening.

I wasn't excited at all to turn 18 because all my friends already were that old (at least) so I had sort of noticed how nothing changed.

It's cool not to be 17 though because that is a rotten age.

Happy birthday! I'm never excited on my birthday. I hate them.

I cried at my birthday party in first grade (maybe it was kindergarten?) because my mom made me wear this stupid dress and no one else was dressed up.
