My friends mother is actually a High Priestess within the religion, but I don't know a lot about the intricacies. What I do know is that there is a 'Mother and Father' Spirit who preside over everything. I also know there are a lot of books at library on these topics.

As for my own worshiping preferences. Olidammara, bitches. He's my one true deity.

Dusk- Yes, that is one version, the Triple Goddess and the Horned God are neopagan equivalents, I think.

And if that's how you roll... that's how you roll.

Okay so, explain what Wiccan is to someone who's heard of it, but doesn't know what it is. How'd you get involved in it? Magic, you say? Do tell me more.

Hmm... There's quite a list. Mostly egyptian and Celtic deities with an emphasis on Isis as the mother. Also Enlil, an ancient Sumerian god. But really it depends on what kind of magic I'm working with as certain spells need the blessing of certain of deities.

Bworp- Honestly, I know very little about it. I got involved after I saw a book in my local library called 'Something blahblah and Magick', and I though 'Ha, they spelled magic wrong,' and I picked it up and flipped through it. Then I went home and got on the internet, and... here I am, eight months later and I've finally made my decision. I know that a lot of Wiccans believe in karma, and a lot of them worship the Triple Goddess and the Horned God or some incarnation of them. If they're in a coven, they probably gather to cast circles, and worship together just like people do in a church. If they worship by themselves, then they might cast spells and if it's one of the really nature-centered branches(although I think all branches of Wicca are really nature-centered) then they might burn certain plants that have special properties, and they could use minerals that can make the magic(k) more successful.

I don't know much at all, and I know I'm probably mistaken about a lot of things... I'm going to do a lot of studying over the summer, though. I want to make sure I know what I'm doing before I try to cast or invoke anything.

Justice- Thanks (: I'll try to learn more about them, too.

St. Micheal Christian God/Jesus/Holy Spirit Whoever feels like listening to me

There's my list of deities. It really depends on what you believe. I happen to have been told by someone who would know things like this that they did exist, so I believe in them all, worship them all minorly, and ask for their help if I need it.

Wicca isn't a religion that you can really direct someone in... Wicca has such fluid concepts of life and death and deities that it's really a religion which encourages you to walk to your own drum. That's why I like it. It's something that envelops everything I believe in and makes it real.

If you're looking to get into majick, go to the new age section of a local bookstore, Boarders and Barns And Noble have really good ones, and look around. If you think you should pick up a book and look at it, do so. And whatever you do, avoid anything that says anything about worshiping demons. Wicca doesn't recognize an absolute form of evil (which is totally ironic, because so many people think Wicca = Satanism)

As for what it is. Religioustolerance.org has a wonderful article about it here That's where I got a lot of my information... Bworp, this would be great for you.

And friends and family should accept you for who you are. But take it easy trying to explain to them that you're not Christian and that you are Wiccan. My aunt freaked out when she knew I used Oracle Cards (A form of "fortune telling" like tarot, except it does guidance not "this is whats going to happen") and said that I was communicating with the devil and all that fun stuff. Your family may not like it, but you have to make sure that they at least understand that you're not out to kill anyone and you're going to be the same person, just practicing different things.

Google search for covens in your area, you may be lucky and find one that's open enough to say that they exist. If there's a contact person, get a hold of them and say you have questions to ask. You may want to get a generic Book of Shadows (the "bible" of a witch, including spells and ceremonies) and a general book on Wicca that can explain it to anyone who has questions of their own.

-deepbreath- I knew that was going to be long-winded. If you have any questions, you can contact me at any time, I would be thrilled to help you in any way that I can.

Blessed be!

Don't forget to be awesome

Thank you so much, Aya. I will definitely follow your advice, although I've already searched and there doesn't seem to be any covens within a fifty mile radius of my neighborhood :| I'll pick up a Book of Shadows and a Wicca book as soon as I can. If I need to, I'll come to you with my many questions (:

I worship nature and time. Meditate with that in mind and you'll probably discover why ^^

To those wanting to get into magic and the like please please please be careful. If you're going to a local bookstore for your information be even more careful. You can find some awful information there easily. If at all possible try to find a book store that specializes in magic, paranormal, meditation etc. the people that run those are usually reputable and will be able to offer valid advice on the topic. You can find them hiding in most cities. Rarely do they announce their presence, but those inclined to find information will find their way to them eventually.

The biggest piece of advice I can offer anyone is- Learn to properly invoke and banish. You will know when you have succeeded, never doubt that, but take the time to learn this before moving on. :) I didn't at first, and I am so glad I have.

I'm around to offer more advice on the topic if you wish. Just mail me. I'd also like to congratulate you on finding a path that suits you. It's one of the most important things in my book. Doesn't matter what your path looks like as long as it suits you.

I should probably clarify that I am not Wiccan.

Yeah, I can imagine the kind of trouble magick could get me into if I'm not careful- and I'm not talking about the spells themselves.

I don't worship anything.

But I've always really loved the greek gods and thought they were the most human--lke in their qualities, unlike many other religions gods.
