What are some of the books she has written?

She's written Lizard, NP, Asleep, Hardboiled and Hard Luck, and Kitchen.. there are a few others that may have been translated but I can't think of them off the top of my head. Most of them are collections of short stories that all have some sort of basic theme.

Hmm, she sounds like someone I'd enjoy reading, have you found her in a library or do you have to buy her books to get them?

I loved Kitchen! It's been years since I read it and I'd forgotten all about it, but thanks to this post I think I'll read it again. :)

Ah, Kitchen was among my favorites :) : I dunno, I just searched my local library and they have a few of her books, but I've bought all mine. It'd be worth a try to look! I really love the themes in her books, a lot of them are very subtle and touching.

I really liked Kitchen at the time :) I also heartily recommend Haruki Murakami's books - I find their style somewhat similar :)

Yeah, I've heard the two of them compared before and I've heard a lot of good things about Murakami, I've just not gotten around to reading any of his stuff. I definitely plan to- are there any books you'd specifically recommend?

I'd recommend Kafka on the shore, I found it wonderful. Even if his most famous (and Yoshimoto-like) book is Norwegian Wood.
