What would happen if I disowned one of my 10 pets... Could I get another to fill its place even if I am no longer a gold account member? Or would I be stuck forever with 9 pets? =/

You wouldn't be able to adopt or create another one. You'll need another gold account if you would want to have your 10th pet again.
