I know that the one zapper can zap minions of it's choice and turn it to sludge. Which one is the safe one but also has the ability to turn your pet glade?

This one (version 1).

Version 2 is the one that can zap your pet's minion and any item in your inventory.

Yep. Version 1 only effects your pet, so your minion/items are safe. :3
