Why do I always make it masculine? (As in using the male avatar base.)

I looove feminine things, like fluff, and frill, and jewels and the like! But, I just can't seem to ever grasp the urgency to make something pertaining to that common want. I've wanted to do something with clothing similar to the clothing worn fashionably in the Nickelodeon cartoon, As Told By Ginger. (❤ Will always love.) I'd also like to try on the W.I.T.C.H. character styles on for size.

I make much too many mafia-esque avatars. Someone help! I would love it if someone skilled in the field of HA-developing would just school me on the basics of starting up a good, decent, fashionable, and trendy avatar.

Well, maybe you should post in the suggestions forum as a lot of really good HA makers frequent that thread and love to give advice.

As far as making trendy HAs, I would just suggest that you try to make them more "real life wearable" and less themed (like fantasy, rainbow vomit, colour schemed, etc). 's thread on street fusion might be a good place to look for inspiration. I personally find that the most fashionable HAs are the ones that could potentially translate in to RL outfits, and are less matching in colours (because really anyone can put together an outfit that "matches") but more so focus on textures, proportion and creating new and interesting layering techniques.

I guess that was really vague, but it's hard to "school" someone in something so personal and subjective as style. But here's a tip: whenever I'm really stuck for ideas I peek through Vogue or other fashion mags / designer's websites and try to emulate a look from there while making subtle changes to make it my own.

Ah, I've been to her thread! It was actually very helpful, although I am fairly new to the Vogue lifestyle. I do find it refreshing, though. I love the creativity, in the grand scheme of things. P:

Thank you, so much, for relaying me these tips. :3 And I have a Vogue mag, actually. Although it's TeenVoque. (And has Zac Efron acting all sexy-like on the front. e_e -heartthrob-) I snagged it from my older sister's friend from college, while visiting her over the weekend. Hopefully it'll give me some enthusiasm on my next style drop.

Thanks again!
