So last night I woke up in the middle of the night in a very odd way...

In the middle of my dream I started hearing the voice of my roommate (who wasn't in the dream) saying 'No. there is someone here. Shh. Listen. I can hear them. There is definitely someone here.'

So I woke up. I Had sleep paralysis... which I get sometimes when I wake up suddenly... very scary and annoying. Anyways, then I see the light go on outside of my bedroom window... and I hear footsteps going across the path beside our house. Of coarse... being as I just heard my roommate say someone was here... I got scared and tried to wake my boyfriend beside me... but I couldn't due to the paralysis...

Trying to say his name aloud was just me thinking his name and trying to move my lips x__X

Anyways... so then when I can finally move... the light had gone off and my boyfriend thought I was crazy... especially since my roommate wasn't even here. He couldn't have said anything because he is out of town. =/

Really weird that I would be woken up by the voice of someone I live with (but isn't there) saying there was someone there when there was. O__o

Ever woken up in a very scary way?

Oh wow that's very creepy. And I hate sleep paralysis. It scares me. .__. One time I had a dream that I was laying in my bed in my room on my back and something I couldn't see was choking me. I woke up in the exact position I was in my dream and I was gasping for air. It was terrifying.

I know right. It's so awful!

Ugh and it has creepy ways of incorporating your dream into it... and it almost always feels like there is a presence in the room when you're frozen like that. >_< Like something supernatural is holding you there frozen. Which doesn't help lol.... since the fastest way to get un-frozen is to relax. xD xD

I had sleep paralysis every night for about three months it was the worst three months of my life. So I know what you mean. Dx And that would have freaked me out so bad I don't know if I would have been able to sleep for the rest of the night. I believe in ghosts. lol. And I either had some extremely bad case of sleep paralysis or an out of body experience recently. Oh my goodness. When I finally got back into my own body, or whatever happened, I felt so strange. I was taking a nap and I fell asleep for maybe an hour. When I woke up and opened my eyes again though I felt really heavy, which is a good indication of sleep paralysis, except instead of how it always is I could move but I couldn't GET UP, like my legs were confined to my body but the rest of me wasn't, so I could sit up, reach around etc but I couldn't get up. I knew my eyes were open and I was seeing my room because I blinked a few times and then wouldn't let myself blink again just to prove to myself when I could move that I wasn't sleeping because I'd realize if I opened my eyes, and they were hurting because of that. But after a few seconds I began to get really frustrated and I didn't want to be stuck in what I was just passing off as sleep paralysis because I've been trapped in it before for whole hours just watching the clock. So I tried to grab the phone. This is why I thought it was an out off body experience, now. I tried to grab the phone but my hand just kept going through it, and I tried over and over again and I couldn't grab it. Then I started freaking out and tried to pull myself out of my body to go get some help by trying to grab a chair next to my bed and I kept going through that. Then I started yelling for someone but no one could hear me. And I yelled over and over again. No one could hear me. So I decided that the only way I was going to get to get up and get some help or just solve the problem on my own is if I pulled with my entire being and grabbed the chair and pulled myself up. And I did. And all of a sudden I felt myself combine with my body again, and it was just really freaky because even through that I never closed my eyes. It was just really strange. And different from when I used to have sleep paralysis because sleep paralysis always happened before I could even get to sleep or if I'd woken up from a horrible nightmare, and I know neither of those things happened because though the entire experience I was calm about everything except that I kept just going through solid objects. And sleep paralysis has just always been different.

Anyway. xD You asked for weird sleeping experiences.

Languish: Wow that is really weird! I have heard of that happening to other people though. It does sound like a lot of similar OBEs I've heard about. Lucky you!! It must have been annoying... but I actually would think it was really cool if that happened to me... just because I love thinking about how we can do that... it makes me feel more like...

That's one of the worst feelings. D:

There's a big building opposite where I live. When there's a powercut the air conditioning there makes a loud banging sound as it goes off. This happened when I was sleeping once and it woke me. I then in my half sleepy state managed to convince myself there was a zombie attack in progress. Luckily my fiance reminded me that it was the air conditioning system once I'd woken him up.

Ahahaha. Thats pretty awesome... but it probably wasnt for you. xD

Rallok: Yeah thatès how sleep paralysis works. It sucks because it likes to do this thing where you are awake and yet still sort of asleep... which is why you could hear the voice while you were awake and paralyzed.

One time when I was paralyzed... I thought I was completely awake... but then I noticed that the birds chirping outside were chirping when I wanted them to... and it started to get really weird because I could control the length of their chirps... it was so bizarre. Thinking you hear something real... then being able to control it. x__X

Ew, sleep paralysis. I used to get that all the time and merely thought it was some sort of recurring dream. Then I found the article on it on Wikipedia and went "o hay they aren't dreams after all... D8"

Once I woke up in the middle of the night with sleep paralysis and thought I saw the outline of someone in the doorway. Luckily I knew it came with hallucinations, so I wasn't as scared as I would've been.

It wasn't awesome at the time but it's funny looking back.

I don't think I've ever had slepp paralysis but it sounds quite scary.

I haven't gotten sleep paralysis in a long time, but I often get woken up and end up jumping out of bed and running out of the room. I will be dreaming but half awake and see things either moving or spiders crawling all over my room.

But honestly if I had that happen to me like you did, I would have gone mad, I have extreme paranoia just slight sounds that don't belong make me freak out and go into hiding mode. Someone knocks on the door and I'll sneak to windows and peek through any blinds I can, and still never answer it. But to be stuck knowing I saw a light and heard footsteps, would have been scared to leave my room for a week.. and sleep for that matter.

My mom once woke me up with a recording of a tornado siren... After I had stayed up all night playing Silent Hill, and I had watched the movie that night as well.

So yeah, Silent Hill binge + Sirens= Not Fun

I have this recurring dream that there is a HOOGE spider on my wall, and the light is always on in the dream. So, I wake up, scared, to light off and HOOGE spider. So I freak out and REALLY wake up and then cannot sleep.

I hate dreams that are like two dreams because you "wake up" in the dream but you aren't really awake. :/

I have only had sleep paralysis once and it was the scariest shit ever! It was after my first fatality and when I went to sleep, I have relived the whole thing and when it got to the part when I got home, I woke up and had the sleep paralysis and I was trying to scream and I finally heard a voice that sounded like my grandmother telling me it was ok and not to be scared. Only, my grandmother had died 13 years before. Even though I believe my grandmother was with me when I happened, I hope it never happens again

did you know sleep paralysis can occur from lack of enough sleep and/or a bad diet? that sounds like it was very scary, though. :/

That would scare the shit out of me too, Angel. Did you know the woman? I'm asking because sometime just as I'm drifting to sleep, I can feel someone watching me, but for whatever reason, I know it's my grandmother, so I'm never scared because I know she is just watching over me
