Any more ideas in Southern California?
I love to visit Southern CA!
We went to, I think it was, the Santa Monica Boardwalk? There's an awesome carnival there and you ride the ferris wheel and a rollar coaster above the ocean.
I love CA. T_T
the roller coaster above the ocean sounds like a nightmare I had... but that's because I'm terrified of sharks. I'm sure you mean overlooking though. I'll have to check it out.
I just say the ocean in general.
I've never been to California but when I went to Florida, the best day we spent was relaxing by the ocean, not at any theme parks. :)
If this has already been said, you have my apologies, but....
When I was little, my mom and step-father took us to Calico ghost town. It was pretty fun. I don't know if it's still open or not, though. I haven't been there since well before I moved away from California.
Catalina Island was fun, too.
I'm in the OC and I can just think of the really obvious things to do. You could go to San Francisco and do all the tourist-y things there like Alcatraz or go on the Duck Boat rides or whatever. I've never been, but my brother went over spring break and said it was pretty fun.
The Grove in LA is probably one of my favorite places. It's fun to just spend a day there walking around and shopping and having lunch in the Farmer's Market. It's such an interesting area with a lot of really chill people. Venice beach is another favorite place of mine too. Maybe see if there's any concerts going on around in your area ?
I think this has also been mentioned, but Santa Monica is a fun area. You can go to the Promenade and just walk/shop/look around.
Sorry if any of the above have been mentioned already /:
Seems like you're kinda looking for outdoorsy type of things?
Japanese Garden - It's so beautiful. They have really vibrant plants and they're ponds are so pretty. The goldfish literally glow, they have a bright orange aura. It's a must see thing.
Angeles National Forest - It's not ALL THAT special but it is, & it's fun to go hiking there & you come across lots of water animals and lizards. It's not like mountain hiking, it's kind of like a wide shaded valley with a bunch of trees and creeks and you just keep walking/climbing until you get to the waterfall at the end. (At least I think it's the end.) Pretty nice.
Horse back riding In Griffith Park - It was the first time I went riding, and its in this ranch in Hollywood. You get on a horsie and they ride you through the mountains. They just walk, and you could make them trot if you want to, but its not the place for like galloping. When the horse takes you up the mountain, you creep up on the awesomest view where you can see maybe all of Los Angeles.
La Brea Tar Pits - Like someone mentioned before and its pretty cool to see how active it is! Every like 10 minutes, you get a huge bubble from the pit and it lets out all this gas. Maybe not good for you but they're sort of exciting. & at the La Brea tarpits they have their museum that houses all of the stuff the pit has spit up, as in fossils and artifacts like that. The La Brea tarpits are right next to the Grove. An awesome place to eat, shop, and see a movie. & down the street is LACMA, the museum.
All of this is located in LA by the way..
