That's right, I, the queen of procrastination, won a scholarship. For being a type of computer nerd... I was awarded the Chris Pease scholarship which is in honor of my school's former computer technician dude who died in a motorcycle accident.
All I did was write some essay bragging about random shit I do in my spare time, like building computers, learning to program, being a nerd, advocating open source software, being a nerd... and -BAM- $500 savings bond. Haha. That just made my day.
And college is still a ways off for me, so I'm not really sure about where or what I want to do yet.
Congrats :) although I feel bad for the guy that died. :X
Nice! Scholarships always help and there are so many out there not being utilized. So nice to see people getting them. $500 is pretty good, it will buy your text books for a semester. :)
I was actually talking about this on one of my irc channels about how geeks are generally terrible writers ... so spelling/grammar errors just fit the bill perfectly for a budding geek, making your win just that more "apt" (haha. pun.)
And Open source ftw Although I loathe kde4. Holy hell. But hey it's getting the alternatives out there.
