Long story short, is it possible to be on anti-depressants and anti-anxiety medication at the same time?
And because I know someone is going to ask, yes I have been to therapists, quite a few of them over the course of six years. I'm not currently seeing anyone at the moment but I'm probably going to make an appointment sometime in the near future.

They're both SSRIs and they're usually the same medication. You should never take two different kinds without specifically being told to. It could seriously damage your body's ability to produce its own serotonin.
aha, all right. I figured as much. I just thought I read somewhere about people being on both at the same time.
I'll talk to my therapist about it then I guess. /: while my antidepressants make things better in some areas my anxiety is... uh... still prominent.

I was on high dose sertraline for a while for anxiety, it worked until I stopped taking it because I went on a detox health kick. <<
I'm no doctor but it might depend on which medications you're taking? You should always see how your medicines will react to each other before taking them anyway... but your best bet would be to talk to a doctor or therapist or whoever's responsible for prescribing these things to you and see what they think.
My doctor prescribed me Elavil, which is supposed to be for depression, and I'm using it as an anti-anxiety medicine, and it works fine that way. I think it solves most of my emotional problems... it works wonders, really, especially since it takes care of the stomach issues I've had for six years.
