I had a book when I was a little girl, that I loved very much, I would love to find it again for my girls.
It was a small collection of fairy tales, it had a purple cover.
The stories included:
Anders a shepherd boy, who danced with the fairy queen
The woman who flummoxed the faires
Some story about Patrick who tried to capture a leprechaun
Another story about a miller and his daughter... or something like that.
There were a few other stories in the book that I cannot remember.
I cannot for the life of me remember the name of the book.
I was wondering if anyone could possibly help me track down the book.
I've tried my hardest, entering bits of the stories I can remember and nothing comes up.
But I'll try that too.
Any chance you could elaborate on the stories? I'm mostly only familiar with Grimms' fairy tales, but with a little more information....
Sure. The first one is about a shepherd boy who fell asleep under a tre while he was supposed to be working. His master told him, he had to be inside before nightfall on a ful moon or the fairies would take him away.
So the boy feel asleep, and when he woke he saw the fairies dancing in a ring, he danced with the fairy queen and she took him up into the sky with her.... blah blah
(thats all I can remember)
The woman who flummoxed the faires is about a woman who gets kidnapped by the faires so she can make them a cake.
So she sends the faires back to her house to get everything she needs, including the oven, her husband, and her child, in the end the fairies are exhausted and let the woman and her family go.
I can't remember much about the others though....
Except in the leprechaun one, the leprechaun tricks Patrick by tying a red handerchief around all the thistles.
the woman who flummoxed the fairies is the title of a book by itself.
Yup, I know.
I don't think it was called that in this book though.
ooh! I just remembered The Elves and the Shoemaker was in it too.
"The Elves and the Shoemaker" is the title of the Grimms' fairy tales. I don't think I've heard of the other ones though. Well, I've heard similar ones, but folklore tends to have a lot of elements in common.
I'm assuming it's a collection of random fairy tales, so...I think I give up, lol. Good luck finding your book.
