You can get up to 10 with a Gold Account. Then Mystical Donadak Plushie and Mystical Montre Plushie can give you +1 and +2 spots. I believe you can have up to 22 pets with those plushies
(Because text affects the width of your signature, we suggest testing with all text removed to be sure your width is correct.)
The max someone can get now is 20. The 22 was exclusive to a couple of users for buying the plushies from the cash shop before they were lowered in price or something.

The only users that can have 22 are the ones who already had the full 20 when Keith lowered the price of the plushies a while ago - everyone who had already used one got two free slots and the users who had already reached the maximum got them too, to be fair.
The maximum is 20 for everyone else.
