for anyone who plays/has sims 2, does it have anything in it like makin' magic in the original? i can't get the original to work with my vista system (as much as the sims forums say it's possible to get around) so that leaves sims 2, but i don't want to get it if there's nothing like the makin' magic in it. so the verdict?

There's nothing at all like Makin' Magic for The Sims 2. Which is really disappointing because I liked that expansion pack D: Sorry!

Well, Sims 3 is coming out sometime this June, so you could wait and see what expansion packs it comes with if you're that hesitant on buying Sims 2.

Sims 2 Apartment Life EP has spells and witches and warlocks in it, and you can become a witch or warlock.

I've never played Makin Magic though but I think that's what you want.

You should try the game irrespective :) It is a huge improvement over the original game and with the Sims 3 coming out, you will be able to get the base game as well as a few expansion packs for good prices.

Are there any particular aspects of Making Magic that you enjoyed? If you can name them, Religion, myself and others may be able to tell you if a particular expansion has it or not. :)

Hm... Well, "sims2 pets" you can get werewolves, apartment life you can get witches (and zombies, if you don't have a pack that you already get them in, such as freetime or unizersity), sims2 deulex you can get vampires, and that is all I can think of for other speices, ect- aliens are in original one, so... o3o It is pretty much thoughtout all of them though...

Maybe you want to wait for sims3, though?

i loved the spell making/charms/quests/achievements, plus the whole magic world (where you had to go through the portal) :( i miss my sims1, and i hate that vista and it aren't compatible. kicks EA make a patch for the poor and behind the times! grumble

Magic World is a yes.

AL has witches/warlocks, whom can make spell items and use them in spells; along with other items. Likewise, the evil witches (when max) have a green glow and orb-like things around them, and the good ones (max) have sparkle-like things. c: Both sides have their own spells, and the sim can also be neutral... uhhh... evil ones can make zombies, also. o3o Uhhh, some of the spells would be cleaning, making others fit/fat, memory erasing, ect. and they also have the "magical world" which includes the evil headwitch's palace, and likewise the good one.

I think sims2 you might like; it can be really fun. 8D And some of the cheats you can do are pretty cool. xD I can't wait for sims3, though! _ such pretty graphics...-drool- xDD;

AL has witches and such, I haven't gotten around to playing one, but somehow I doubt the magical aspects of the game are as whimsical as Makin' Magic, and I haven't seen anything to prove me wrong. :/
