Alright, I need a plan on how to make about
5, 000 dollars in a few months for a
miniature horse stallion that is show trained I
cant get a job and I cant baby-sit. because Im under 13. I also cant do lawn work and I cant get paid by my parents because they cant afford it. I`ve been trying to save up for a few months, but I need a faster plan... So, a little help would be greatly appreciated.
My parents won`t let me out of their sight and none of the neighbors would pay me.
Neighbors would never pay.
My parents cant afford to pay and id never ask them for money. About the only thing I can do lawn work wise is rake leaves. and it`s summer.
Than you for all of your suggestions. I`m sorry that none of them would work.
Ermm its summer? IF you live on a busy street you could alwasy do the old lemonade stand, with a new twist. Get some cool aid (fairly cheep) and borrow some sugar from mom, then put it in paper cups (if you have them) or something similar. Insert popcicle sticks, or something similar, freeze, sell for 50cents more then the cost of the ingredieants? Idk.. Just a random idea
Humm. What about working as a lifeguard? Here you can do it if you're at least 13 and they'll pay around 500 euros for a month.
Um, it seems like summer... That`s a good idea, I might try it.
Im under 13... But if I wasnt I would try it.
Then I would do what said and get a dog. Horses would cost you much more than that (feeding and taking care of) and you can use 5000 for much more useful things
If your parents won't let you work, what makes you think they would let you get a horse? And where would you keep it? Even if you do get five grand, they cost a lot more than that for feed and housing.
It's not something you can hide in your room and hope mommy and daddy don't see. :(
I DISAGREE she can train him to stand real still and tell them it's just a plush toy from walmart
but I agree. Dumb idea on getting the horse at this time in your life. Maybe try again in 30 years.

5000 in a few months and all you said of your parents...in regards to getting -caring -boarding- showing costs...pretty impossible in the RW for under 13 and not out of parents site to earn money.
BUT if you could get out of their site to distinct location..set up- clean up and help run BIRTHDAY PARTIES!!
Think of what you have resources and ability for. maybe table sets and decor. maybe plan certain games..
Get MANY supplies for these games and sell them + or run them at each party for money.

Why does it have to be show trained? I feel like I'm getting a lot of lack of information here on why this is so necessary for a KID to have this horse. If you can't afford to get a horse, how do you expect to care for it?
For money, doing car washes. You don't have to be a certain age to be able to do that- you just need a bucket, hose, and wash cloth. Try selling baked goods as well. People do a lot of picnics and family reunions in the summer- you can help setting those up and organizing them, excellent business prospect.
Are you serious? NO. Just no. x_x
If you can't get a job etc. to even buy the horse in the first place then how on earth do you think you can support this horse financially once you have bought it? You're looking at £100-£300 a month just for the livery alone. Then you have to think about the cost of feed, equipment, insurance, vets bills, shoes...
Generally, it adds up to about £4000-£6000 a year, do you have that much? And that's not even considering the commitment you'll need to make. That's every day - muck out, groom, ride...unless you want to spend more on a full livery?
No, you obviously have no idea on the costs of keeping a horse. So please don't - this horse deserves an owner that has the time and money to completely commit to it. If you really want a horse then look for a horse share/loan. I have a horse share at just £40 a month. x) Plus you won't have to pay any vets bills, it's the perfect solution if you can't fully provide financially or with time. =D
Hmm perhaps we should throw in some other life size plush animals if you want to go with 's idea.
On the serious side:
Honestly, just go out and enjoy your summer, end up doing something fun and not work really hard for something you probably will not end up getting or if you do something you might not be able to keep.
If you are not happy with that suggestion, please feel free to give us more background info, because I agree with we are probably missing info here
Let me ask you something, where are you going to keep this horse and are your parents going to teach you how to ride or to otherwise take care of this animal?
As one who owns and raises horses, this is not the type of animal you buy and let it take care of itself like a dog or a cat. Horses are a huge amount of work and are big money suckers, so even if you get the 5k, how are you going to take care of it later?
I also agree with the numerous other thoughts that there is vital info missing here, so you need to fill in the gaps for us.
I completely agree with this. It sounds like you've just decided on a whim that you must have a horse, and it also sounds impossible for you to earn basically any money considering you make excuses and turn down any possible ideas to make an income. o_o You're only 13; if you ask me, that's way too young to be making such a commitment, anyways.
It would take like 6 months to make $5k even if you were working full-time (at a minimum-wage job), so I'd say you have pretty much no chance of making $5k in A FEW months ... selling lemonade.
If you really love horses that much start earning money now to some day get a horse. The other people on here are right, it's very expensive. But as you get older you'll be able to take on more and more jobs to buy one. Working for a neighbor washing dishes, sweeping floors, etc. is something you could do at your age. Just make sure your parents know about it and where you are. And if you ever change your mind about the horse, you'll still have the money. :)
Okay, I`ll give an expiation.
The horse is $ 2,500, I would have over a thousand left after buying him.
I could board the horse at a boarding stable that will vet check and house him for around three hundred dollars per month, I would only have to pay for the feed and stabling. If I got a steady income to pay for that board I could pull it off, but if I didnt have the income no horse and I know that. I have one business idea Im idea working on and so far its going well, but I need another idea. With the horse being show able and having a family line of Hall of Fame champions, he is likely to place (and even if he didnt I wouldn`t mind) and I could show him nest year as a five year old miniature stallion.
And I probably sound like a immature child, but I`ve been thinking this through since September last year. And thank you all for your help and bringing the issues to my attention.
Sorry to say, but you'll have to budget for a lot more than that. x_x You'll need to pay for shoeing every six weeks, equipment (tack, buckets, mucking out tools, rugs, headcollars etc. which will need to be replaced when worn out), initially you'll have to vet the horse (this could cost anywhere from £75 to £250), bedding and hay (around £200 a year-ish for a field horse or a whopping £1500 for a stabled horse), the dentist around once a year (nearing £100), worming every 6-8 weeks (at a cost of around £10-£15)...
That's not even including the insurance, which is a definite must unless you want to be landed with a giant vet bill at some point.
I can see that you're dedicated, but I honestly don't see how, at 13 years old and unable to get a proper job, you'll be able to pull it off. :x You're clearly unaware of the full costs of keeping a horse, and for now I suggest you do something like a horse share/loan. x) They're far better because you don't have to commit too much financially or with your time, it's flexible. You don't have the full burden of owning a horse, but get to experience a small part of it (without all the vet bills!).
EDIT: Forgive me, my prices are in GBP. Just take note that the figures stated here are higher in USD. =/
The horse acts like hes a gelding even though hes a stallion and hes about the size of a laborer dog unlike the larger miniatures that are up to four feet and a half tall (I think), and both his farrier and owner said that he would make a good beginner horse and a good horse for a eight year old or older (Im 12). I have seen the horse at a horse show and he completely didnt mind the noise and bustle. And I dont believe hed pitch a fit, plus my moms grandma had a horse boarding stable, so my mom would be able to help me with him.
It will be years sense I go to collage and if I find a good way to earn money I could set a little back for the fund...
Um, horses can do a lot that other animals cant do (although my cat thinks he is an Arabian) and theyre not useless. Horses have helped people throughout history, they helped Native Americans to survive, and the Chincoteague Ponies still play an important part of history to this day, they have done more than most people give credit for. ( Not trying to sound rude) Although most modern day horses aren`t heroic, lol. They can still impress and make their owners proud, by anyway. But some horses are just loco and they cause trouble. Sorry if I went on a tangent, please forgive...
A picture of the horse I`m trying to buy.
