I've been seeing users around lately who post constantly and unnecessarily; say for instance I ask a question and they post 'I don't know'. But x 109128404378532

Does this irritate anyone else?

I don't know.

;D I think they're just trying to boost their post count or something? But I agree, it's annoying. It doesn't contribute to the conversation at all.

Yeah, i saw this ones, i don't remember where it was, but it was a sub forum, and every single topic had the same user who posted as last, and every post was pointless and increddible annoying. I didn't know if i should have told the person or not that it was annoying

It's annoying as FUCK. I know there are achievements and sP for posting in the forums, but that's what the user run games are for. It's easy as falling off a log to rack up your post count playing the person above you's favourite pet, or what would you do with the person above you's HA or whatever.

I do try and play nice on the forums but those posts have made me get a bit sarcastic once or twice.

These kinds of posts are even more annoying than the 'Good luck selling!' posts. I also hate posts in the Help forum that repeat the same exact information as the post above them. And the post above that.

They would never want to make me a mini mod here. I would be deleting so many posts it would make your head spin.

I usually don't mind the 'Good luck selling!' type posts because they help keep my selling boards from dying out, but I agree that sometimes I don't understand why people post if they don't have anything to add to a discussion.

I hate it when people just repost what's already been said as well. I also hate people who post on every single freebies thread. They just copy and paste their post into every thread, do they really need 5 new profiles and 10 banners?

if it's a relatively recent answer on the help thread, it could be a case of somebody that's a slower typer trying to post a genuinely helpful answer, but being beaten to the punch by a faster wordsmith.

mind, if it's obviously posted some 15-20 minutes later, it's just somebody trying to jack up their post count.

I do what Tche recommends. I can't stand people that don't know the answer to something or post very little that contributes to the topic. Much like Stijn said, the lack of interaction is what bothers me. If you're so starved for achievements, go play games. There plenty of achievements for that..

The sad thing is that it isn't even new accounts doing it all the time. There are definitely a couple old accounts who seem to go out of their way to say 'I don't know' or worse, give incorrect information.

EDIT: I have been known to second information in help posts, but mostly because of the same thing I mentioned above. Incorrect information is given so often around here that when I've got a question I like having information supported by more than one user.

I hate it too. It's really annoying! :o Normally I report them for spamming. It isn't right when they clog up the forums with stuff like that. :x

I am going to politely disagree with this one. Most of the time, the artist chooses not to do one's freebie (perfectly understandable considering they're not being compensated), so one would need to post on many of them to receive a piece of art. Of course, this could be remedied if 1. One could draw, or 2. One had the sp to commission artists. I have neither, so I post on a lot of freebie boards in hopes of getting art.

I haven't seen the ''I don't know'' spam...but if someone doesn't know they shouldn't post. I know I encountered that on another site (can't remember which one) and it really annoyed me. It's just...when someone asks for help if you don't know you shouldn't postO.o

I agree. It's getting really irritating. It's like... if you don't have anything to say, then why bother posting at all ? It makes me think lots of people are going for the achievements though, or boosting their post counts to make them look 'cool'.

I've seen the "I don't know" spam in the Help forums a few times now, and I'm ready to report it. Usually I just ignore most crap on the boards, unless it's something hurtful or scammish, but all this post-count jacking is seriously driving me mad. It's a help board, it's asking a specific question, posting "I don't know" solves fucking nothing, especially when the topic was at the top of the boards to begin with!

I also get mad when I see that a specific user's post are all "I agree with so-and-so", "I don't think so", "That's cool"...short, meaningless phrases that contribute nothing to the topic they're on. Sometimes short and sweet is best, but it annoys me when that's all a person has to say. I wouldn't report it, it's just a pet peeve.
