I'LL BE BACK IN A LITTLE WHILE TO CHECK THIS BOARD. SO IF I DON'T ANSWER QUICKLY, SORRY!

So I would love if someone helped me out here, or if an artist on Subeta gave me some tips. ^^;

I would love to be a member of Subeta's staff someday, but more so maybe an artist on here? I love art. I really do. I don't do it to show off and brag, I do it because it's enjoyable and a stress re-leaver. But I will admit, I do need a whole lot more practice. I mean hey, I'm not the artist who can look at a picture once and then draw it 100% perfect in about three minutes top. I need to take my time on things, haha. But if anyone could offer some advice, it doesn't have to be anything specific, just some things maybe on what you've learned by drawing and what not? Like, what do you use to draw on? Photoshop? Upload something from a camera? (I would love to know what the Subeta artists use. Lol.) (I mean of course people use paper. I mean just for Subeta.)

Uhm, some info on my drawing.

I have gone to a college in New York two times for an art competition for fun.

The Ribbons go by- Good Great Superior

The first year I went I got a good ribbon. The second year I went (this year) I got a superior.

In my school I have my own private art class every Friday with our art teacher, it is my friend and I that are in it.

I don't really have a specific thing I like to draw on, it kind of varies from like the mood I am in.

Buuut yeah. =] Whoever reads all of this, you deserve a cookie. And if you post you get two. Haha.

idk about subeta artists, all i know is that they are cell-shading only..

in general, i find that drawing from photos is kind of a waste of time to draw realistically. draw from life, watch people or have someone pose. it REALLY looks different. its actually a picture of a person, instead of a picture of a picture of a person. you don't lose any like... 3d-ness in the process.

and don't use black, and don't erase too much. those are just kinda my general rules, ahahhahahaha.

i draw and paint usually on illustration board. :)

and scan.

Ah, thank you Ivyatoms! Now only if I can convince my grandparents to get a scanner? Rofl.

Yes, I try not to erase to much. And I usually use pencil to draw if that's what you meant by black. Lol. I usually only use black if I want to emphasize something.

If anyone else has some advice, please post away. ^_^

Well, I know that Subeta staff artists use completely digital, at least for the finished products? (items, NPCs, pets, etc.) The people on Subeta who sell their art in the Art Market or display it in the Art Discussion and General Creativity use a variety of methods to create art. Its very diverse here--digital, traditional, crafts, etc. If you're looking into digital art, there's photoshop, though its expensive. If you're looking for a good cheaper program, I'd personally recommend openCanvas or Paint Tool SAI. I draw from life and do realistic pieces to practice the fundamentals, pretty much. Otherwise I like to fiddle with coloring and styles in my spare time. Practicing is really important! D8

oh, i mean in painting and coloring. never use black! it sucks the color out of everything bahhhh

you can get good pictured of your trad work with a digital camera if you shoot it in natural sunlight and you pin it to a wall or something. don't stand over it, because more often or not, you'll catch your shadow in it (and if you don't, its hard to get it completely straight unless it's hanging)

so like, tape it to your garage to take a picture, hahahah that's what i do for my larger stuff but small stuff works too.

Thanks COMETELTRIA, and Ivyatoms again. Lol.

I like doing a whole bunch of things, like trying out different ways to draw and what not? It's fun.
