I'm overdue for my art book contribution... oh no...
Please give critiques for my initial sketch. (The final piece would be very different since I tend to experiment while painting... but here's a speedy sketch.)
I will try to give updates when I can.

Super shrank since the working size is 8.5 x 11 at 300 dpi
Please give color/ value/ composition suggestions. The scene will have raindrops or snowflakes in the end. c:
Also... POKEMON~

First season was such win....
Hmm on the very first one I like the scene and everything but I might add the person seemed to be smiling.. The scene in itself looks to be quiet dreary and kinda sad looking should they be smiling? I just wondered X3 Then I like the Pokemon! The only thing I wonder about is on sandslash the little yellow spike on his head. Look like a random horn or something. Maybe make that brown as well? o:

Thank you for the feedback!
The theme for the first image is "kindness", and I depicted a child holding an umbrella for a box of abandoned kittens. Though in a dark world, acts of kindness can bring light (I think I will change the expression when I paint though.)
Sandslash does have a yellow spike. (I had trouble with that too, looked at reference pretty hard myself. xD )
Oh I see ^^ That makes sense now o: Then I might add a little light around that to show that perhaps? or you could change the scene to be where they could be near a light pole and there is this light beaming down then it looks like light in the middle of darkness. Sorry brainstorming because it looked cool in my head D:
Oh gosh you're right o_o I see the yellow spike now D: I forgot all about that... hehe my bad X3 I feel stupid now D: Lets just say I know more about Houndoom ;3 pets username Then it looks fine. hehe

I can't really give you any crits on the sketch right now seeing as how I'm half asleep. However, your pokemon art is to DIE for. Ohhh my lawwwd, I am beyond loving the vulpix ;u; ohhhhh god, time to go watch you on DA 8D;
Your Pokemon are fudgin' beautiful. Nothing more to it. The only criticism I might have is that the Sandslash's left forearm is a little thin, compared to it's right one.
On the top piece, what exactly is in the box? I'm not sure what your plans are for that one, but I think a more solemn expression might enhance the mood? Unless cheery was something you were specifically going for ^_^
[edit] Oh, looks like someone already caught the expression xD
