I always see people complaining on the Advertising Board about how rude it is to offer/ask for a price on an item being sold and then not respond when the seller responds.
And while I agree that it is kind of rude, do you know what else is? Creating a selling board and leaving your potential buyers hanging! If you take the time to make the board, and people take the time to offer, then you should respond!
Now I understand that you can't be on 24/7, but I've made an offer on items (as well as many people after me) and the seller NEVER returns/responds to the board.
In the words of Stephanie Tanner: How Ruuude!
Okay, end rant.
What do you think Subeta? I just find it a little aggrivating to ask a question ie: "Would you take 250k for the -insert cool wearable item name here-" and never get an answer :(
Heres the thing, im not gonna sit at a board and wait for a response, if i go shopping, i leave a post saying im interested in such and such, comment with a price please, there is a handy little button right there under your HA that makes that ever so easy. And then i dont have to wait around on a board for someone who may or may not show up or still be there.
I think MissChelle is totally right. Sitting there and waiting for people to respond or to make offers is just something stupid. If I go away I go away. People can comment and if I tell them to comment or if I write that the sale is closed and they still write on the board it's not my problem... might sound rude, but offers like 1mil on a 5mil item are rude too and people still do it :x
I... Don't know. You can't expect someone to wait at the board for buyers for hours and hours, but if you made a board, the least you can do is check back every now and then to see what's new.. That forum is swamped as it is..! I'm on the fence here :P
Sorry I don't think I phrased that quite right >_<
I would never ever expect a seller (or to buyer) to spend hours on their boards. We all have lives outside of Subeta. It's unreasonable to expect someone to live their lives waiting for someone to buy their pixels for virtual money, in fact I'd be quite worried for them if someone did. What I'm talking about is someone who makes a buying board, gets a bunch of offers then doesn't respond or commment. Like..weeks to months later, and they still haven't returned to their board. Why make a board if you're never going to reply? That's what frustrates me. I suppose it doesn't happen super often, but I find it annoying when it does.
Sometimes people forget about their boards. If you offered on a board and don't get a response comment the user. If he doesn't react, forget about it. It happened to me too that I forgot about a board.
if they really wanted to sell the item, they'd pay attention to their board. Ignoring it means no sale, so it's their loss
I once posted on a board 4 minutes after it was created. Many other people posted after me. I commented them. They never checked back or responded. It was just kind of a wtf situation there. But I don't think the OP is saying SELLERS MUST BE ON FOREVER. She's saying that people who NEVER respond to comments asking for a price are rude. And I agree with that, it's mad annoying if I'm itching to get this item and they're off in la-la land ignoring the 'new comment' event or what have you. And I realize they may be off for multiple days blah blah blah. I'm generalizing obviously.
Haha, I'm guilty of doing both of those things, despite the fact that both things annoy me, so I guess I can't really judge anything on this thread.
It's annoying when people don't reply, though, I agree. I always subscribe to the threads I post on for shopping and continually check back to try and avoid not responding as best as I can. :/
I agree I've been waiting for a reply for a while now :c
Well in real life you don't ask for a price and go to another store while the merchant deals with another customer do you? No, you don't. You can ask for them to comment you or wait, it's your choice. I tend to keep the page where I ask for a price or ask if they're interested in my offer up and continue shopping on another tab checking back. Sometimes however I forget.
I don't think I understand what you're complaining about. Is it when you post an offer on a new board and the seller never responds? or when you post and offer, comment, and the seller never responds? or you post and offer on a board that has been there for days you don't get a response? just sellers that don't respond in general?
it's very annoying when I post an offer or whatever and I get ignored... and then I comment and I get ignored... is that what you're talking about? BECAUSE THAT'S REALLY ANNOYING. :|
My favorite are the sellers threatening to BLOCK a user if he/she does not respond to the board. Now that is fucked up, hell, they will have have subeta blocked.
Lurking like lurkers do...
No, but if I ask for help and the Merchant doesn't help then yes I will go to another store :)
I was just getting frustrated because I was asking (offering) about some items I really wanted, and since I don't offer on the same items on multiple boards sometimes I'm just out of luck if the seller never responds..and who knows when you're going to find another "deal" on the item, could be a day, could be a month until somebody posts it.
Yes Ouo, and Harlot that's what I was talking about :) I was in no way saying that Buyers and Sellers should live their lives on Subeta, and check their boards 24/7.
I hate that when sellers seem to poof -- especially what seems like right after they made the board.
but what irks me is the fact that sellers are unwilling to name a price. sorry, but you could've just totally lost a potential buyer because you're (possibly) obnoxious about it. if you're so insistent on it and is being nice, sure I'll name a price.
oh god, its even worse when they purposely dont accept your offer when they see it. there was once a seller who for some reason wouldnt accept the offers on the trades. i made an offer and she just left it up (im sure she did it with the other buyers as well). i know she didnt sign off or anything, because she was still making deals and putting up new trades. i even left a comment on her board saying i offered, and she just ignored it.
i kept checking back for a couple days when finally my offer was no longer there. she probably accepted them all really fast, which eats up trades (and makes the buyer receive the sp, but they still get to keep the item). she didnt even tell me that it happened, i had to find out myself. she even put the trade back up with my username, all without letting me know. if i made an offer again, i would have been paying double.
i just contacted a UA to get my sp back. i dont know if she tried to do that on purpose, but i always ignore her advertising boards now.
@ Jila: Oh, I know what you mean on the trade thing. There was a time, though, that a user bid on a trade and I wasn't aware of wait times between trades and that there was that glitch. I wasn't paying attention and accepted two trades at once, and got the sp for both, but kept the item. I notified the seller saying the transaction didn't go through, and so I put the trade back up. I realize now that I practically stole 1 mill in sp from her. =( I wish I could remember her username so I could at least give her the 1 mill back.
In the other users' case, though, It doesn't seem like she didn't know. =/ but who'm I to say. D8
This. They must not want my money, and I'm happy to give it to someone else. I may pay a little more for it, but at least I WILL get it!
Cripes...that's theft.
Well.. the simple solution is to never buy from that user c:

Oh my. I didn't know about that double trade glitch either. It happened to me yesterday when I tried to accept two trades too quickly, I was messaging the user about how her offer disappeared on the lot, but then when I was checking my inventory I saw the item that she had offered was there along with my item, I was pretty shocked, I didn't know that could happen.
I couldn't imagine not giving the user what they've paid for, or asking them to pay double (intentionally) that's just dishonest..and nasty o.0
Oooh yes it does bother me when a person -poofs- RIGHT after making a board..like 2 minutes after :(
