Ever hear about how people who...for instance, manage to travel around the world and stay in people's houses that they know/met online?

Have you ever considered doing that? Do you think it may be interesting? Are you even willing to let semi-strangers stay in your house :P?

I spent the weekend before last with a house guest from Virginia. I'd known her from Livejournal for several years but we'd never met in the flesh till her taxi pulled up outside my door. And we had such a great time. I love her :)

I'd do the same thing at the drop of a hat if I didn't have my dogs making travel a problem, but I've had more than one online friend come and stay at my house. I'm totally up for it. All my best, most life-enriching relationships have been formed through communication at a distance.

I'm far too shy and awkward to do something like that. It could be a cool experience, sure, but I'm not sure how much I'd be willing to compromise. Same with having someone stay in my house. I'm very peculiar about having people in my house. Maybe someday!

Ya I am planning to do it in 2 years when my and my besty get out of high school.

We're going to the Kentucky Horse Park where her aunt lives,

then to England (odd I know) and staying with my extended family. Then to Ireland where my friends family lives.

The best part is my cousins are gonna show us around England and take us to London and all that.

Working on filled wardrobe achievement. Almost at 12k!

My sister did that after she finished... high school. She had fun. I honestly wouldn't be able to do it.

a random stranger? never i'd chop of their legs the minute they'd think about stepping over my doormat to stay in for the night

but if it's someone i know AND like online, then yeah, of course i'd be delighted to meet a few people from my internet life

I'd love to meet some people once.. I do want to get to know them better before I trust them into my home. At the moment I have one person which would be allowed to come over to my place, any time. (others would have to arrange something)

I'd love to do that. Though I'd have to talk to them through video conversations and they would have to be people that I know really well.

I went with my friend to go meet some people that she had met online and they were nice but I wasn't really the one doing the talking lol.

I think it'd be a lot of fun as long and I knew (online) and liked the person enough to let them come or to go over to them. :)

I would be a little nervous about it, but if I could do it, I so would B)

I'd get to go to New Zealand, Sweden and Scotland and Canada. That would be kickass. Oh, not to mention pretty much a tour of the United States.

I'd be cool to imagine, but really awkward for me if it actually happened.

I could do it, but I don't know enough people well enough. Like, Subeta and dA are my only real online hangouts, and most of the people I know I've met irl so they live pretty close by XD

Although once a friend of mine here on Subeta offered to let me move in with her to escape my she-devil mother. It was a tempting offer, but she also had a fiance and I didn't want to get in the way so I respectfully declined.

If any of my online buddies wanted to come and stay with me, though, I'd say yes in a heartbeat, it might be kinda fun you know?

I don't have many online friends. Except one. She's really cool, but she's going back to Toronto for college next year. :(
