How do you start stories? Out of all the things I fumble around, beginning things is one of them. I just can't seem to make things flow, or more importantly capture the audience (at least imo.) A lot of people have told me to just start from the middle, but I'm such a perfectionist that I haaaate doing that.

So I'm just wondering if you have any tips on starting stories? (:

Generally brainstorming. It depends on the subject matter. Sometimes, depending on the story, I like to give the Narrator a personality. It's a fun little exercise. You can start by describing something small in the scene that the main character remembered, and panning out from it. Or with a strong thought that the main character had.

I doubt I was of any help but that's how I generally work with my pieces.
