If she has no interest in making their friendship anything more, she should just ignore that fact and continue on in the friendship as if nothing's different. It would save a lot of awkwardness.

Wait what? If she's crushing on him it means she likes him as more than a friend. That's the purpose of crushing on someone. And if she doesn't like him as more than a friend she should say no if he asks her out.
