This might seem a little dumb, but I have to ask:

For the social achievements (comments, items, etc.), do they have to be an actual friend, or can they be anyone in the game?

Example, Person X is on my buddy list, but Person Y isn't. Would it count towards the achievement if Person Y commented on my profile?

You know, I don't think it counts unless they're your friend...

I don't think they need to be on your buddy list. At least I got my "Receive 1 item from a friend." achievement from.. myself XD . I just tried to send myself a gift since someone said this acutally works.. well, and it does.

yeah i don't think they have to be on your buddy list (for some reason)....

...but you DO need to be able to see your comment box in order to comment you! :)
