I'm crying my fucking eyes lout right now just because I looked in the mirror. I gained 30 pounds when I got homeschooled and I'm so fat now. I will lose 40 pounds someday, but how? (I was already a little chubby) I was 110, now I'm 140. I want to vomit every time I look at myself. I'm going back to school, but it will take forever to lose the weight. i need a fast, safe way to lose weight. Please help? I'd do ANYTHING to be skinny.

[edit]

I'm 5'5".

[edit]

I dieted and went to the gym for a month and GAINED WEIGHT. So diet and exercise just hates me I guess.

[edit]

I didn't notice a difference, either, even if the weight was muscle I gained.

[edit]

I have always worn baggy pants but it's all I can fit into now. I can't fit into slimmer jeans like I used to.

[edit]

I'm a vegetarian. Have been for many years.

Eat less. Exercise more. That's really all there is to it. x

Not so much eating less, but eating RIGHT. Eat proportional, healthy meals, and try to snack less (and snack on healthy things). Keep up with an exercise routine. Try to cut things like soda and excessive sugars out of your diet.

I hate things like that. You should do anything to be "healthy", not skinny. You didn't mention your height, but depending on your height, 140 MAY be HEALTHY for you.

Lose weight in a healthy way. Eat healthy options, count calories and carbs, and exercise. Also, I don't know if you do this, but I have a habit of eating when I'm bored or emotional - only eating when you're actually hungry makes a huge difference.

The words 'safe' and 'fast' don't really apply in this situation (correct me if I'm wrong). Just eat healthier food and increase your daily exercise. And for pete's sake, don't be sickened by yourself. Get some confidence. :x

First off, be easier on yourself. You won't have any kind of healthy motivation if all you can do is hate your own reflection and feel like you want to vomit.

There's no magic trick for losing weight fast, and different strategies work for different people. I avoided gaining any weight while I was away at university by eating smaller portions and walking a lot. The smaller portions ment I could still eat when I was hungry, I just couldn't eat that much...it actually worked really well for me. The walking was done on nature trails with some steep banks, so I'd get my heart rate up while not having to jog or run.

If you start exercising, just be aware that you'll likely GAIN weight at first, as muscle weighs more than fat. You'll be losing body fat, but at the same time you'll be building muscle, so for the first little while you'll likely go up instead of down

Exercise. Eat healthier.

I don't care what anyone says, that is THE ONLY way to healthy, permanent weight loss.

But seriously, one hundred and fourty doesn't sound like a lot.. I weigh more than that lmfao. I'm not fat at all though, more like.. I'm fit or something. I'm not stick thin though lolzzz. I'm also about one hundred and seventy two centimetres tall.. I don't know feet and inches, I'm European. xD If you're reasonably tall though, that is a perfectly good weight.

But try like.. thirty to fourty minutes of cardio every day, or every other day. Reduce how much junk food you eat, if you drink a lot of soft drinks, I would advise cutting those out completely. All sugary, sweet, fake.. ick! =P Exercise and eating habits are your best friend. Loosing weight isn't "fast". I've lost abouuuuttt.. I dunno, five kilograms or maybe a little more in like two months. Its not fast, but once you get there its worth it. =)

EDIT: I just saw your edit about gaining weight while working out, OP. WELL, that is normal my friend. Muscle weighs more than fat. And you're not supposed to "see a difference" that fast. If at all, really. One month isn't really that long, unless you worked out a lot every day. I personally run every other day for fifty minutes, then bike for another fifteen or twenty. A looottt of work man, it ain't easy, not gonna lie. I barely notice a difference on me now, yet my friends and parents tell me I look great.

I don't see how you can be fat when you're 5'5' and 140 pounds.. I am 5''5(and a half)' and 140 and I am not fat at all. I mean, it is not wrong to have some meat on your bones my love.. I don't know what kind of example you have set for yourself, if you used actresses/models you've got the wrong idea. Sometimes you just cannot help it that you are not 'skinny', it can be in your family. (when you have got a skinny family you will have, skinny children it is not always like that.. but for what I have seen..) Of course, at a specific age is it good to have a specific amount of pounds, now, I don't know your exact age.. but I don't think you should be thinking about losing much weight.

If, you do want to be healthier, eat lots of fruits and vegetables. Cycle to school, to the mall, go everywhere with your bike.

....you sound like you need to be confident with who you are.

Anyways, if you want to be healthier, eat the right proportions of food. (food chart)

And do something that's fun yet will help you get healthier. Running, a sport, biking, etc.

I skimmed some pounds off by becoming pescatarian [a vegetarian that eats seafood]. I also went cold turkey off of soda. For a year I stopped eating sweet snakes such as cookies, candy, etc. After that I regulated so that I wouldn't ever buy or go out of my way to get some but I would eat some if it was given to me. Also, every night before going to bed I would do as many crunches I could do before getting tired/sore.

I lost weight because I joined a drug test for some ADD medication to help my concentration in school. One of the side effects is loss of appetite, along with insomnia and some others.

I got started in the trial in January of this year, and have lost over 30 pounds since the start. I weighed 144 pounds at the beginning, and now weigh 115. :)

But I still haven't regained my appetite, and am somewhat underweight for my height of 5'4", so I'm starting to worry. :(

You sound really un-confident. You probably don't need to lose any weight. You sound healthy to me. And I hate to sound annoying but... talk to your doctor and see if you really need to lose weight, or, as said, getting your womanly curves. ;)

I understand how you feel, actually, and I know what it's like to feel sick about it. I'm just so highly unmotivated about everything that I don't get up the gusto to exercise.

But it sounds like you're pretty okay, actually. I'm shorter and heavier than you. :x

I'm trying to lose weight this summer, though. I plan on running five times a week, cutting out shit food, and some crunches. And I bought a nice little swimsuit that I use as a motivational tool.

Because nobody wants to see flab in a swimsuit.

it sounds like you need more than a diet if you want to die over it. 30 pounds is a big change but it isnt the end of the world

if you can still fit into your clothes, i wouldnt worry. i gained a lot of weight when i got out of ED rehab, but i still fit into all my old clothes.

doing "anything" to be skinny is not a healthy mindset

5'5 and 140, seems more curvy and not fat. 110 at 5'5 is skinny. Not chubby. Only way to lose weight healthily is diet and exercise. You may not have seen the change, but it was there. And I assure you, it was muscle mass that you gained. Learn the food chart, don't take anything out completely (like sugar or carbs, because that will ruin your ability to digest those properly. Eat the recommended portions (around your hand size for each item on your plate). At least three meals a day, and eat small snacks when you feel a bit hungry (you never want to be starving because your body will start to store foods; as fat). This speeds up your metabolism, which starts the weight loss. Eat more vegies and fruit. Loads of them.

my guess is that you gained weight because you gained muscle. i gained more than i lost the first two months of my gym membership because of increased muscle.

all i can say is eat the right things (ie. not fast food and all. i'm sure you know what kind of food i'm talking about here) and exercise. things you've already heard before :P

The safe way is to definitely still eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
But cut down on snacks. When you feel that craving for cookies or chips/etc, grab a cup of water instead. &Of course, definitely avoid sodas and desserts. Fresh fruits should replace snacks and desserts. Also, never eat something before you sleep.

A great way to increase metabolism and also have better digestion is not only by drinking more water, but take walks around neighborhoods/parks/etc after your meals. If you have time, spend time out with friends.

Going to the gym will increase your muscle mass, which at first, may seem like you're not losing weight. But in the long run, you will burn fat, and you will be fitter. Fitter=healthier, which is definitely everyone's goal~

Good luck! :)

Well, nice to know I'm fat, since I'm 5'5" as well and about 135 pounds. Good luck losing weight, all I do is go out for walks, bike rides, and eat 'healthy' food.

I don't. If I lost weight... That'd be bad. :P

I'm already 'underweight'. I'm 5'7 and 108 lbs. Size 00.

It's just my body type though, so my doctor says I'm normal for my build.
