My most recent examples are here.

I would love tips on how to make additions to the overlay more subeta-styled; what program do the professionals use? :P So far my areas of expertise are basically limited to recolors and slapping actual wearable items onto the things.

However I DON'T take payment for them so I don't have to worry about overpricing... yet :) Suggestions? Critiques?

(oh yeah and if you want one feel free to PM/comment me, I'm usually bored enough to do them pretty quick)

They look pretty cool...what program do you use? The mask on the Donadak's mouth looks a bit pixelated, like you had to enlarge it..same goes for the blind fold over the Ghostly's face. I would suggest using PS or PSP...but I THINK there's a program used specifically for Overlays...not sure though.

@ I do use photoshop CS3 actually (I know, it's like giving an assault rifle to a kid who needed a squirt gun, right? :P) but I'm still learning with it.

The reason they look pixelated and enlarged is... because they are :x I'm still getting used to drawing on items and my shortcut was to actually resize an existing one - a habit I am attempting to break away from or at least execute better :D

Most advanced programs usually have a 'soften' tool. If you apply it to pixelated areas, they look more natural.

No, soften makes it looks blurred, and more obvious. (to someone that's been doing this kind of thing for a while anyhows.)

I use photoshop CS2.

To draw stuff on the best thing you can do is take the pet image, and make a separate file so that you have two. Take one and resize it to 200%. Then draw on that, and resize it to 50% to put the accessories onto the 200x200 one. Make sure you draw on a separate layer obviously... And give the lineart it's own, and merge them when you're done. it's just easier that way.
