So I'd been happy for a while sitting with my battle pet at a nice even 250 intelligence for 16 AP, but there are new scrolls out and it looks like its time for me to start reading books to my pet again. However, I also see the Malice in the RD shop, and I've heard that it's a pretty decent weapon. But how decent? Is it better, worse or on par with legendaries? I rather wonder if it's even worth adding to my set.
I have quite a few of the more 'rare' books from old DPs, token shop and seasonal things sitting in my vault, but I'm not sure if they'd be better off read to my pet or sent off to the RD, since I only have one of each and I don't intend upon going out and buying another.
Which would you consider more valuable? More AP and the ability to make higher level scrolls, or a Malice?
Most seasonal books will come out again so I wouldn't worry about those. The DP books, however, I'd never donate to the Reading Drive, they'd go straight to my BD Pet. Token shop, would depend on the book, older ones might not restock but they've never not brought something back from the token shop either.
As for which is better? It depends on your point of view. To me, I buy books for both. Malice is "supposed" to be on par with the god weapons but one step under. If the price tag holds or raises the price for it via the reading drive ( I didn't spend over 10 mill this year and have almost 500 books, but then again I've been saving all year.) is far cheaper then to buy it on the secondary market. Most people due the reading drive for the wearables not weapons. Given that the achievement is not to Equip Malice not buy one the price should either go up or stay in its current range.
As for as adding Malice to your set? It's better to actually have a wide -range- of weapons. I have 6 or so Legendary combos (they don't double over with icon types), weapons below that par line and one or two above it but that's still not enough to give you a lot of options set wise. But as for which is more important? A good battle pet needs both AP and Weapons to be successful in battle.
Throw your books in RD, sell prizes and buy books again + Malice. This will get you Malice, APs, and achievemtns if you're after that too

The Malice is fun to play with against the smaller opponents but I never use it against the impossible, extremely hard, or most of the very hard opponents. There are so many weapons that are more important to a set than a malice!
Why would you ever read a book to your pet that costs 2 mil+ when you can buy intel stat boosters much cheaper? Just make sure you read a book on some multiple of 16 to get all of the AP :) [edit] I will eventually read more expensive books to Demigod just to get the 500 books read achievement. He's read 400 books so far but has 757 intel
Yeah you can get intel for like 300-400k with stats boosters, just read everything below that and use stats boosters instead of expensive books. I got over 2/3 of my intel from stats boosters and that's 250 points ;)

Thats a tough choice, I'm struggling with it myself. What have you decided to do?
Our Lair is proof you don't have to stand face to face to know you've got friends who stand with you when you need us.

See I started reading books to my pet before the AP thing was introduced so I have a bit less then what I -should- have (shame you can't recalculate it) so using the mix of Int. increases + books for me is finding the pattern I'm on first -sigh-. But Malice is a decent weapon and as far as I know its also wearable so there's good resale value.
