I haven't been able to get my hands on a copy yet. I've actually been saving up for the Host for a long time now. I'm a fan of SM's writing style and the Twilight Series and I like the whole alien host concept.

Hmm, tough call, since they're both so different. I think I liked them equally, although the first half of The Host was pretty slow. :) I didn't really get invested in it until they got to the cave.

I think Twilight is alright, but definitely not worth the hype. The Host on the other hand...I love it. I've read it three times. It definitely goes in my top ten favorite books of all time.

I defiantly do not think Stephanie Meyer is some kind of unbelievable writer. I read The Host because it was from her but that's not the reason I liked it. I thought it was a great story line and very original.

I suprisingly liked The Host, I liked twilight when there wasn't such a big hype about it, but I liked The host better.(:

I love Twilight more, but that being said, The Host was way better written.

The Twilight books disgust me. But I actually like The Host. It's better written, and it hasn't been "ruined" for me yet, unlike Twilight. The Host still has some things that get on my nerves; for instance, Wanda is way too paranoid about people wanting to kill her, and her obsession with Jared is really annoying. But I can still enjoy the book despite these minor grievances. So my vote goes to The Host!

i'm with Vicoreo...Twilight was ruined for me, theyre good books....but not good enough for the entire freaking world to Spazz out about....I did like the Host better even before Twilight got blown way way way out of proportion... the only bad thing is its a bit slow on the uptake and i thought the very very end was a bit....disappointing (not quite the right word...but the only one i can think of)

Problems?....Throw them all in a large pit of sleepy Chihuahua's. Why you ask? Nothing is worse than a sleepy, tiny yappy dog

EDITTED: I finished reading The Host. I thought that the book was very good. It is CERTAINLY not in the category of books that I would normally like or read but I did enjoy it regardless. Having finished it now I can say that I do like Twilight better. I think that both are excellent but Twilight is more geared to my preference. The Host even though I understand it now is still "strange" in my mind. More so than sparkly vampires lol. I will make one negative comment about The Host though (when I'm going somewhere and can't read I always have audiobook on back up so I don't have to stop) that the person who reads The Host I really really hate her voice... I do not like it at all. The voice for the Twilight Saga was sooooo much better lol.

As for Twilight and the spastic world going utterly insane for them I couldn't really care less. It hasn't ruined the books for me I enjoy it as much now as I ever did. I'll never let fandom or in this case Fanvires ruin my enjoyment of a story.

I agree with Rewind btw that The Host for me is a bit slow on the uptake. I think that's the perfect way to describe it. Thinking more critically the beginning has been quite a turn off to me but I have confidence that the further I read the better understanding I'll gain. I do think it is a fickle way to start a book though it wouldn't have been my preference.

Edit: I'm further through it. I do indeed like this book it isn't really my kind of book though. It is written nicely in my opinion and I do find myself interested but I definitely like Twilight better.
