it's probably because there are so many things that do not match. your hair is bright red, a color that does not go with your color scheme whatsoever and the hearts in the background are like bright pink wile you have this pastel/salmon pink thing going on in the body of your avatar. another thing is probably the green scarf, which is basically the only piece of green on your avatar.

Exactly. Your color scheme needs to work together a little better. And, I think you need a hat. xD But that's just me, and I put a hat on everything.

Okai so I didn't read everyone else's critiques, so if I'm repeating something, don't yell at meeeeeee. ):

Marissa. Marissa, Marissa, Marissa. I'm going to have fun with this:

Starting with the obvious: sets. It's a personal preference of mine, but I hate hate hate hate overuse of sets. Like, I wouldn't have a problem with it if it was, say, the shorts and the shoes or something like that. But two sets with very MAIN pieces towards your HA.. doesn't work for me. XD;

Nextly: color-scheme. You have bright red hair, bright BRIGHT green, and about twelve different shades of pink. Okay, it's really three, but still. The grey and the lighter pink of the ribbon (meaning, your shirt) look good together. The grey and the pretty pink of the background look good together. The grey and the salmon pink of your shoes and shorts... don't look so good together.

General advice: Basically, I'd keep the shirt and lose EVERYTHING else (background, optional). Base an outfit around monochromes, lighter shades of pink, and maybe another color. For your hair, I'd try out various wigs (or if that's just something you can't afford right now, try out monochrome shades of standard hair styles) You'll also want to invest in various other accessories, such as neckwear, hats, bracelets, earrings, etc.
