....your probably wondering how could i possibly be writing this if i have no internet....well i kinda snuck onto my parents computer when they went somwhere soooooo ...yeah..

story here is my dad likes to have outbursts of random meanie ness sometimes and this time durring one of his tantrums he shut off my internet. my computer has a wireless connection to my parents main computer...some how he manages to turn it off and i would really appreciate it if some computer wiz out there could lend out a helping hand and tell me all the possible ways he could shut it off and ways i could reverse that and turn my internet connection back on :D

PS: ...i am an IDIOT for computers i swear my knowledge is shorter than a 3 year old's so instead of long computer words like internet conection programing (probably not even a word XD ) please use the thingy mabober in the right hand corner that says internet when u let your mouse hover over it....

PPS: we have windows xp, a little box from quest that says ethernet, internet,phone and others...please help i really want to get on subeta more DX and my parents dont leave the house often so bear with me im gone for long periods of time.

I guess he could get rid of your mac address?

I know my dad would sometimes do the same, but he only would shut off the internet connection instead of taking my mac address off or changing the little password thing.

I know I'm very descriptive, but eh. It all depends what's working. Is the ethernet box shut off? If it isn't, did you look through your list of wireless internet connections or whatever? If yours does not show up, he likely took your computer off the list. If it's still there just reconnect, and if it requires a key you're screwed.

If your connection is wireless, it is most likely he shut off the connection, if they have the main access.

Im not on xp, im on vista, but i could give you a rough guide that might help.

Go to control panel, and networks set up a network, a wireless one (make sure your modem is switched on!) and run a search for wireless networks really it should be protected with a password, youll need that if you have it, double click on the network that is yours enter your password and a little blue thing will appear in your system tray?

im not sure if he can block your computer, but he shouldntve so try that :)

^_^ thanks so far im understanding what you alll are saying yeah, i just think he took my computer off the list the box IS always connected because if it wasn't it would screw up my parenst internet....im gonna try right now :D as i said i can get one once every million years my parents r away XD

oh and ... when i go to wireless networks there r like 5 on my computer all but one have a password so i try to click connect and it connects to that particular one...the problem is once im connected the wireless netwrok has either no connection or limited or no conectivity when i click repair it does all it does and then says it couldn't connect because of an invlid ip adress then i lose that connection and that wireless network dissapears and then reappears a while later but the problem is mainly

invalid ip adress i basically think he just said to the main computer ignore my computer or something any idea how to get my computer back ON th "i will let this computer use internet?"

PS: i looked at the " maical box" XD and it has everything but USB and wireless on
