My dad recently injured his wrist. I have the slightest idea as to how, but he's trying to say one of the police officers hit him with her flash light (he claims I was there and told her to stop; I don't recall anything like this).

It looks horrible, and he says it hurts like hell, but he out and out refuses to go to the emergency room to get it checked out. There's definitely something wrong there, and it looks worse in person. =/
How do I talk someone who refused treatment after a drunk driver nearly killed him to go get a possibly broken wrist looked at?
Tell him he needs to check it out before it becomes a permanent damage? Show him pictures of other injured people, scare him a little?
that definitely needs some attention... if to just determine any intensive damage. perhaps the idea of going to a major medical center is the problem. maybe you could suggest having it checked out at a small local clinic instead?
ultimately it is his decision. i'm sure he is aware that ignoring damage to the body will result in permanent damage of some sort. a broken bone will heal itself, but it may not be ideal.
have you told him how much it would mean to you to have it checked???

He was an EMT and saw brains laying out on the road. He's seen things that people shouldn't have seen. Nothing will scare him =/
I told him. He still refuses. He won't even go to the family doctor.
That might explain it. Most male EMTs won't seek medical attention because they feel the doctor is wasting his or her time on them and should be giving the attention to someone else. I'm a female EMT, so I know when I need to go to the doctor. I suggest that you do the best you can to convince him to get it looked at. If he won't, than it's up to him.
