Set in the late 1800s? Um... picture Atebus Masquerade; the Golden Compass; it's around there somwhere. In the town of Despereaux, strange phenomena have been occuring. Angels have been falling and loosing their wings. A scientist named Christian James has discovered a few of them, and has made it his duty to recover what angels he can and equip them with mechanical wings. But one day his laboratory is found broken into. And he isn't found at all.
