{Hopefully this is the right section)

So the other day I got my first tablet (a little Bamboo Fun) and have been doodling with it. I've accumulated a few programs (Corel Painter Essentials 4, Photoshop Elements and PSP 9 & 10) I was wondering which one is the 'best' program and what one I should use.

Such there are so many super awesome artists here, I was also wondering if any of you use those programs, could you possibly give me some tips and such? I'm having trouble with my not-smooth brushes (;

Thanks, and hopefully that wasn't too confusing.

Hmmm. None of the programs you listed I like XD You should try SAI easy paint tool, it's the best by far.

There really is no "best" program since professional art can be made on just about anything, MS Paint included. I suggest playing around with them and seeing which one YOU enjoy best.

Personally I use an outdated photoshop for all my art, but obviously it's an expensive program. I'm not sure what you can do with photoshop elements though. I haven't heard much about it.

As for brushes, deviantart is the easiest place to get a good brush set if you find your own program doesn't come with any you're enjoying. But if they're "not smooth" check your settings and which brush your using. I'm not familiar with the programs but are you using a "pencil" tool instead of an actual "brush" tool?

, I'm downloading SAI, I've heard about it but I've never seen what finished art from it looks like.

, I'm using the brush tools, but I can figure out how to change the brush dynamics or anti-alias stuff on any program.

Sorry for the pings D:

Oh, just make sure your anti-alias is on and it should smooth out. If not, check your dynamics and, if it's the same as photoshop, shape dynamics and smoothing should be on, but once again, I'm not sure about the program.

aha, yes, SAI is definately the best programme i've used. its not like others which take a lot to get used to, either. its simple and makes very, very smooth lines. i love it. n__n plus its very cheap xD and you get a 30 day trial, to see if you like it or not first. very good. : P you'll be complaining once your trail's over.

it's a 30 day trial, then if you want to save anything afterwards, you have to buy it

It's hard to get a good program without investing a bit.

seriously, its worth every penny. and its extremely cheap compared to other programmes. photoshop can be overcomplicated and the smooth lines are hard to achieve. other programmes just fail :( go with sai, seriously. xD
