So and I are roommates. Last night after I worked, we decided we should go play frisbee, despite the fact that it was spitting a bit.

As we got to the park about 3 block away from our apartment, we could see what looked like some nasty ass storm clouds moving in. Whatever, we thought, it'll rain and pass, who cares if we get wet?

Well, the clouds were on top of us in literally a minute, and suddenly we were caught in the middle of 90km an hour winds, complete with lightning and swirling sand devils.

We were a bit freaked out but amazed by the ferocity of the storm. We were crouched behind the wood barrier of a out-of-season ice rink, and almost got hit by a falling limb from a tree about 20 feet away.

The storm eased up after about 5 minutes, and we ran over to investigate a giant limb that had been ripped from a tree farther into the field, when the storm started up again. So we sprinted towards this rec center nearby and ducked under an overhang there, but there were like pebbles and shit bouncing off of us... but it had started pouring by this point and we were drenched.... but the lightning wasn't letting up and neither was the wind... the clouds were SO dark... Eventually we made a run for it and got home, JUST as the storm intensified like tenfold.

Our power went out and we ran around on our balcony collecting hailstones and getting drenched.

it was bloody scary but amazing. Just thought I'd share that. xD

Several years ago, while I was still working at the hospital, we had a tornado. We had the storm alert where I worked, and we all had to go and crouch down in the hallway. (The office I worked in was already in the basement). Virtually every single house in the city had to get a new roof. The transplant surgeon at that hospital had his house, and two Lexuses, destroyed by the winds.

you were collecting hailstones? :P

We had an awesome storm a couple of weeks ago. I LOVE LOVE thunderstorms! But it was in the middle of the night, and I had to work at 7 AM, so I couldn't stay up to watch :(

Whenever we have bad storms where I live I stand under my carport and watch. It's really amazing especially with lightning during a night storm. And of course I also run out and collect hail to throw in the freezer. ;)

Oh and your banner of Jared Padalecki made me squeal when I saw it.

We were standing under the balcony above us and watching, too, and we still got totally drenched! It was quite funny.

Thunderstorms scare me to death. Mostly because of the clouds' color; I always think there'll be a tornado. XD I think I watched Twister a few times too many.

I was out at a camping event once up in South Dakota and it started crazy storming something awful. It was hailing golfball sized hail in buckets. People were actually shoveling it up and putting it into their coolers for free ice!

I was ever so grateful that we had a big camping trailer, rather than being stuck out in a tent in that.

I've only lived in Arizona for a year, but I love the thunderstorms here. Monsoon season is amazing, it seriously pours all day. And at night the lighting lights up the sky all purple... I just think it's beautiful :D

My family was driving from Phoenix, AZ, to Denver, CO a few years ago. To get there, you first have to go up some crazy huge mountains, then you travel across a grassland plateau.

When we drove across the plateau, the sky was almost completely black with clouds and every so often, HUGE bolts of lightning would streak across the sky. I was worried because driving in a lone car on a flat open plain during a lightning storm is NOT a good idea.

We stopped at a rest area when the rain started. XD
