Today my grandfather, John E Anderson, passed away at 7:00 am. He is the only grandfather I have and my mother is his only child as I am hers. He, also, was an only child. So it runs in the family.

He shared a room at the nursing home with his girlfriend of 30 years (she's ~93) and they were two peas in a pod. They completed each other. She has Alzheimer's, so she doesn't know what happened.

He was not in pain, we gave him morphine to help him relax and go to the next world.

My mother's mom died when she was young due to cancer, so this is the first time in about 30 years someone in our family has died.

I thought the support of this place would help me and my family to go through this tough time. I'm not asking for anything, but just letting you know.

- What a lovely long life he has lived ! I hope you and your mom can find comfort in his full life, and someone can find a way to break it to his lady in a way she won't be too hurt in her heart as well.
