i want to start making pet profiles but i only have a small netbook to do it on.

What size in pixels would be best to use for the profile layout so that it fits all or the majority of computer screens?

The Most Popular Screen Resolution On The Web Is Now 1366×768 http://techcrunch.com/2012/04/11/move-over-1024x768-the-most-popular-screen-resolution-on-the-web-is-now-1366x768/

But I'd check to see how any layouts look on anything smaller/larger

You will find that it is necessary to let things go; simply for the reason that they are heavy.
So let them go, let go of them. I tie no weights to my ankles

- the old school size and what would be safest for even the smallest laptop/notebook is 800x600. When I make layouts, I normally go for a width of 950px up to 1000px, and a round about height of 700-800px. Trying to fall within a happy medium, and also repeating backgrounds can help to fill up visual space for those who have higher resolutions. (patterned or horizontal or vertical repeating)
